6 Faults - Help !

I purchased an early 06 model of the V70 2.5 D I'm not a motor person so excuse my ignorance in advance If I waffle or don't make sense.

The car when I bought it last April was a powerhouse and as you know for such a big wagon they pack some punch on the open road when turbo kicks in and I loved it.
But ..... Around 5 months in I started getting a weird grinding sound especially when I turned right or accelerated. I thought it may be CV joints but turns out they are fine. It progressively got more noisy then suddenly the car that used to purr sounded like a scrapper and rough as a badgers arse.

My mechanic got the following readings when he plugged it in to the diagnostic reader

6662 , 6665 , 135F , 28E0 , 2810 , 1507

Now I know the 135F is Mass air flow and the 1507 is the turbo control , but he's as stumped as me as to what the issue is , any wizz kid Know what's wrong ?????

Also I should mention the car within the last few weeks in limp and seems to drop power in 2/3 gear , any help would be greatly appreciated , Im falling out of love with my V70

By the sounds of it your main issue is mechanical. No amount of plugging in of diagnostic machines will tell you what it is. Have it put up on a ramp and thoroughly inspected. It could be anything, and if it's related to your steering or brakes you don't want to find out the hard way if something fails.

Most of those sound like Ecm codes might be worth checking the connections to the ecm they can get a bit scabby and throw up all sorts of codes and problems, the grinding noise should be fairly easy to diagnose on a ramp.
Good luck they are usually worth persevering with.

That's what I'm worried about don't Volvo charge you by the hour and potentially after a day and ££££ still not guarantee to know the issue ? Dancake I see your in Belfast do you know any Volvo specialists in the area who would be worth speaking to ?

You don't need a Volvo expert for the suspension / steering issue . Just someone with a ramp. The stealers will charge like a raging bull for diagnostics, try to find someone who has vida / dice code reader or similar for the fault codes, you would be cheaper buying a good code reader than paying your local dealers , at least you have the kit in the future.

My mechanic is quite a good one but he's a bit miffed with this one , although I'm unsure if he's really spent time with the car on the ramp. Its frustrating , I saw that the mass air flows are only around £30 on ebay so might try and replace it to see if thats the root cause of the bad performance then take it from there. The car is still on finance so I was reading that I may have some recourse from the dealer/finance company for repair costs , not sure though

Every time this comes up the suggestion is to unplug the maf, if it still runs like a pig the maf is probbly ok , if it runs better the maf is suspect, be slightly wary of cheap ebay mafs. They can cause more problems than they solve, if you can get your hands on a known good one and swap them out you will know if it is worth buying a new one.
And check the connections to the Ecm they are a fairly common cause of multiple fault codes.
There are lots of folks on here who know much more than I do on this subject , I am sure they will pitch up with an answer before long .

Hi James. If you want I can run a check with Vida/Dice if you're anywhere near Belfast. This will give the most detail to help diagnose the running issues. The source of the grinding noise will be easier to source with the car up on a ramp, but 10 minutes with a jack and axle stand might be all that's needed.

An air leak will throw a MAF fault code....so I'd get the car properly diagnosed before you go buying a new MAF sensor. Understanding the fault codes and there meanings will go a long way to diagnosing the fault......not the symptom!
If you had VIDA/DICE then you could get Volvo codes (which would make more sense, alternatively, can you get generic codes, ie, P0**** etc. The codes your listing, don't really mean much to me.
