Just a quicky, is it the top mounts that knock or the spring seats?

Or is even worth changing both at the same time?

Usually the Spring seats.
When I rang Volvo and asked for both the plates and the spring seats they were quite adamant that there was not much point with plates as they almost never fail.
The genuine Volvo spring seats (recommended) were around £30 each from FRF Motors using the forum discount code

Got an old discovery now.
May be worth pointing out, I usually egg knock from the drop links, never had it from the shocks.
Can usually tell when the rubber spring mount is gone as shock rod shoots up a bit.
It will more likely be the spring seat that's worn. Every Volvo I've had has need them replacing.
It's a 5 Cylinder Orchestra!
R.I.P. Kyebosh (Alan) you're memory lives on!
Cheers chaps, drop links will be getting done anyway. It's at 95k and I don't think it's had anything done up until now so it's getting the whole lot changed for a piece of mind as I'm planning more power next year
