Revised Petrol Breather System 2003 on

Hi guys, I am just wondering if the later type of crankcase ventilation systems (2003 on petrol engines ) suffer the same problems as the earlier versions ?
I have a replacement oil trap box for them but cannot remember being asked for other parts for these later ones.

the main multi tube assembly according to vida has different break points to the other parts (why ??) , so has anybody had to clean theirs out yet?
the trap is up to 2002 , then 2003 on but the multi pipe asy is ->2001, 2002-2004 and 2005 on!!! I presume this is emisssions standards driven but ...................

    thanks for any help
    Jamie

Only difference on mine is the banjo bolt thingy on the inlet manifold but all ME7 cars have it. Not seen any other differences.

Hang on.... The connection to the inlet pipe will be different on the facelift models with the different airbox.

I am wondering how different it actually looks because vida only has this one picture (typical of car manufacturers )

I just replaced mine. Yes they do look the same on vida, very subtle difference between P1 and P2 but I can't remember what.
One thing that is absolutely crucial and vital to point out is item#15.
They are the same and labelled hollow screw. When ordering a PCV kit you will get two of those hollow screws. However, they have been superseeded and what used to be a hollow screw (banjo bolt) on the P1 is now a hollow screw with built in one way valve. The new hollow screw must only be fitted to the PCV pipe connecting the inlet manifold.

Under no circumstances must you fit the new hollow screw to the engine block side of the PCV pipe work. You must use the old banjo bolt!!

Otherwise it will block the flow of coolant to the head or from the head going though the PCV pipe. The hot coolant passes through the PCV pipe next to the PCV breather tube (cased in insulation). It's there to heat the PCV pipe to prevent the oil vapour from solidifying in the tube and blocking it.
You'll need to be aware of that ££££ up by volvo when supplying the PCV as a kit.

Item#4 has also been superseeded. It's now a stainless steel 'press fit' tube and requires no hose clamps. Much better!

that might not effect everybody - there are 4 different part numbers for item 15 depending on your engine code and serial number.
its not a part we will supply though.
was this info on a TJ or something?

they also list modifications that cure problems, and if a part supercession requires a modification to be made.
I only have access to half the system from here. the rest is for dealers only
