Had quite a productive day, aside from a couple of minor house duties, I was able to crack on quite early with the claying and polishing of the car. Since I bought the car I have only clayed it once and that was just before it was detailed with a PC polisher back in early 2008. Since then the car has always been hand washed and polished regularly but never clayed. Recently I have felt that the bodywork wasn't polishing up as well as it had done previously and contamination on the paint could be felt even when polished so I decided it was time to clay the paintwork again and get that smooth glass finish that always gives a great base for polishing, waxing and sealing.
After I had finished the bodywork I also decided it was best to get any ingrained brake dust off the wheels with the portion of clay I had used on the body this certainly seemed like a good idea at the time but I was cursing after I started because it took the best part of 2hrs to do. It did however leave the wheels nice and smooth without the slightly abrasive feel that had developed since they were refurbished in 2007 so worth while in the end I guess and should make cleaning easier from now on.
So with that all done I had time to do a quick vac of the interior then I shot out down the road to take a couple of pics. I am quite happy with how it has come up and together with the freshly painted bumpers I think the car is looking better than it has ever done since I've owned it. I am actually beginning to become happy with how it looks now especially as it was all done by hand and there appears to be no swirling/minor scratches in the paint finish even after 4 years, although I am sure I'll find something to pick holes in as that's just the way I am with my car...
