I was nosing around the engine bay and found a loose plastic scoop between the right hand side of the radiator and the outside world... It seemed to be scoop shaped and dangling after a single rubber style fixing to the plastic radiator cover had deteriorated.
After a bit of ancient thread research this appears to be a 'restrictive' snow scoop, I reattached by pushing into place and now notice a little more intake whistle when accelerating, which may be a coincidence as I also changed the 2 easy to change BCS vacuum pipes at the same time. No discernible performance change from the scoop part.
My questions are -
1. Do I need this plastic scoop in the UK?
2. Is the plastic scoop restricting my intake air?
3. Has anyone made any minor modifications to this scoop/inlet that are proven to help performance?
I am keeping my T5 stock looking, it has a replacement new ITG filter element in so don't want to start a discussion on cone filter, box drilling, just after any good info on this very front part of the air intake system.
Thanks in advance
