    Pre ME7 or not?

Sorry if this has been covered, just want to get to basics with this car.

My S70 T5 is from 98 (Registered in December 98 if this helps) How can I tell if it is Pre-ME7 or not? Haven't looked at her too much lately so just trying to get an answer from here!

Does it have a distributor and HT leads or individual coils on the plugs?

    Former= M4.4, latter= ME7.

Late 98 is when they started to change over.

    Does it have a distributor?
    Yes - Pre ME7.
No - then yours is ME7.

    Yes that is an ME7.
...probably best not to fit your BOV, they don't like it.

Just double checked that, reason for posting this. Ahh that's not good Am I limited tuning wise at all? Heard they don't like decats, BOVs, etc.

Bov - no, decat is a go but you have to have the 2nd lambda mapped out, the engine is stronger with a better flowing inlet manifold on the ME7 but costs a bit more to tune.
Don't be upset by the no dump valve rule - there's lots of other fun noises you can get it to make
19t, greens, 3" inlet, 3" downpipe with race cat, V70R catback, autotech map...

    310.2bhp / 333ft/lb

    Got an old discovery now.

The mapping mainly, add 100 quid or so to the price of a remap for a good one, avoid brands that aren't well known.

Got you! What sort mods would you need to get mapped in then? Have I made a bad choice with an ME7?

    ME7 isn't a bad choice, just a little harder to tune. Tingy's C70 made 315bhp iirc. Mine's knocking 290bhp with a remap, 3" inlet, 3" downpipe with 200 cell race cat and V70R catback.

A good stage zero service is very important, prior to tuning.

I'm just the very anxious type and making sure I have bought the right car! I'm in the process of stage 0 as we speak!
