Cheers, guys. Really pleased with them wheels on the car. Would have been a crime not to put them on since I had them on the V70 not doing anything!

Having done over 500 miles in the car since washing it last it really needed another go! Problem with a silver car isn't it? Looks clean even when it's filthy! Some'll say that's a bonus but not for me! I look to see the difference when I wash a car, having taken a couple of photos before washing I just deleted them as you could hardly tell it was dirty!

Here are some pics after a wash anyway, hopefully I'll do the rest tomorrow having not had the chance last time!

Here's a mark on the right side of the rear bumper, looks like someone reversed into something and all the paint is a bit nasty, hopefully it'll respond well to the polish and what not! And yes, it is completely dry in this photo!

    Hopefully more than tomorrow!

I have the 426 (moonlight silver) touch-in paint. Even with the right paint code - you're never going to get a complete colour match. 200 quid for a full bumper respray on average.

TBH, trying to just respray that area would look a complete mess, needs a replacement bumper or a full respray and as there are a couple of chips and marks around the bumper it wouldn't be a bad think.

It looks worse in person than it that pic, it's difficult to photo the bad bits of a silver car!

This might go on a bit...

The problem with silver is that it always looks clean. The good thing about silver though is that it always looks clean!
After 500 miles the car was dirty, I took photos before starting but tbh you can't hardly see the difference in the pics or the progress pics even but here we go anyway!

I break up the work as I mostly have to work in the sun and it's tiring so I washed the car yesterday.

So I get my hose; my Meguier's Wool Wash Mitt and my 2 buckets, one containing just water, the other containing a Bilt Hamber Shampoo solution and was the car in the well practised manner. Once done I dry with the large Microfibre towel. After, I clay the whole car, one panel at a time using a segment of a Soft Bilt Hamber Clay Bar drying as I go. Here's how she looked after doing the wheels also...same 2 pics as abovve but hey ho!

10-08-13 002 by AcidicDavey, on Flickr

That was it for yesterday. The weather was playing ball through the night and in the morning so I was able to finish it today.

Obviously it was time to get the polish out. As usual I used Bilt Hamber Cleanser Polish which I found difficult to buff off on dark cars but on this it was a breeze, less than an hour to do the whole car which is probably a record for me! Here's how she looked after I finished.

After that I had a break, and by break I mean a 10 mile bike ride with a friend! I got back, had a snack or 2 and set to work again. For waxing/sealing I've been using Bilt Hamber Auto Balm which tbh I don't like using! Yes, it looks great but it's so difficult to apply and buff off! The applicator snags on the perfectly smooth paintwork and the mf doesn't glide through it at all when you're buffing it off! Looks and feels great mind when it's finished...Before though I did dress the small amount of trim the car has with Mequier's Endurance Tyre Gel.

Detailed 001 by AcidicDavey, on Flickr

Detailed 002 by AcidicDavey, on Flickr

I also wiped the engine bay down and dressed all the plastics with the tyre gel again. Don't really like detailing engine bays but this was so dirty before I got the car I had to do something about it! Not taken it too far but looks a lot smarter than when I got it.

Considering a year ago I barely even washed a car with a sponge I've certainly stepped up my cleaning game!

Having finished the car I took it somewhere I discovered today. The Church on Huntington Lane.

Ok, I'm going to admit it, I'm a bit bored of this car. I miss the character of the 480 and constantly having to defend it for its' negatives. Yes, this car is fast, comfortable, stylish, reliable, infact it's everything I could want from a car except practical and cheap to run but then I knew I'd be sacrificing there before buying of course! The car will probably end up for sale this year I imagine, it's a great car and everything, just a bit dull. I don't even have the V5 yet, collected the car 4 weeks ago tomorrow, a little worried now :/. Forgive me for this but I really, really, really want a BMW E30, I should have held out for one instead!

Anyway, on Monday I was in Brynmawr collecting something so I went up into the Brecon Beacons for a pic or two, stunning place!

I bought one of these cool little air fresheners the other day, nice little thing to see swinging around. And of course it's achingly appropriate in this car!

Also, just to finish off, I put this sticker on the back of the car as a small tribute to my old man since after all, he's where I got my appeal for Volvos from!

Fantastic pics of a fantastic car Sorry to hear that it doesn't 'do it for you', and as a fellow owner of a C70 T5 coupe, I know where you're coming from. However, we totally love ours, and we're hanging onto to it until it dies..........

Ours is lowered which make the car's stance much more attractive imo.

This one is lowered a touch, 20mm lower that a standard GT so nothing drastic. It's just right imo, not too low to catch when reversing in the drive but then not stock either!

Great car and everything but so characterless!

I wish mine was working so I could show you some character.

With a better exhaust & a little bit of tuning I think you could make it more enjoyable.

That's a shame, I think your car looks brilliant.
As for the e30 they are good cars but they look they're age now with trim & plastics getting rare.
My dad used to have a 325i m sport. Fabulous motor, plenty of sideways grin factor.

I felt the same way about mine when I first got it, and preferred my Cougar, but once I'd put my stamp on it, felt totally different. I wouldn't want to go back to my Cougar now.

We'll have to see guys. It's just, I really want an E30. I honestly prefer older cars out of choice, and the E30 imo is probably one of the stars of the 80ies!

When buying a car 4 weeks ago I did rush it a bit I think. I've always wanted an E30 so I'm still lusting after one now! Don't get me wrong, I wanted a C70, but I've wanted the retro BM more!

Anyway, a previous owner of this car expressed interest in it when I got it so I will see how much he wants it when and if I do decide I can't be arsed with it. I can't justify spending too much money on upgrades until I'm certain I'm going to keep it.

Another thing is that I look at that poor V70 on the drive and ask myself "Why am I driving a C' when I've got that?". My life's a bloody mess right now anyway, need to sort numerous things out!

Yes, looking at her again, I'd say it's lowered about the same as ours:-

    As she is now

When I got her on the 19's:-
