    moving the expansion bottle

i want to move my radiator expansion bottle. Looking at the diagram below despite everything T'ing off before it, the expansion bottle simply looks like a link between the hot & cold side of the radiator. So as long as i keep the thicker pipe on the cold side, & the thin to the hot side of the radiator can i move the connections closer to the radiator itself, tbh directly off each side of the radiator. The expansion bottle will still be the highest point in the coolant system but will it work as it should

    thanks Duane

I think the thin hose is for bleeding air from the system hence why it comes off the very top of the head. And the bigger hose is just an entry point into the system for filling and expansion, so really its not a part of the "flow" system, but where it is currently situated is probably the optimum position. Even RT mechanics haven't moved their tank on the demo car.

So whats the reason for the move then buddy? Don't tell me you're tryin to lose some more weight by removing the tank bracket LOL

    Ah, I see. Nice!

You'd need a tank in the boot anyway to bleed the air in the radiator (you could possibly get a small tank off a "little car" in a scrapyard) or a radiator with a cap on it. Or the other way around, expansion tank in the boot, and a small tank/funnel for filling and bleeding in the engine bay.

might just look for a new radiator with a cap then thinking about it, it won't need to be as big as the original because the system will have alot more water in it (& distance to travel) & i'll fit a small oil cooler under the front bumper so the rad won't need that either in the back

looks like the expansion bottle is staying under the bonnet tho, might move it to the passenger side so the pipes don't rub on the cam belt
