got all the braces on today, very impressed with the quality of them. Also impressed how well planned they are, not sure if there worth welding together as all the outer mounts are all directly onto the subframe plates so minimal flex between them.

An old friend who's an MOT inspector came round, got him to have a quick look over BT as i was worried about all the new rules that have came in. Quite interesting as he pointed out about the airbag removal rule that its upto him to prove it had one in the first place, which as the whole system has gone he can't. Said ABS could be an issue as it obviously had it due to the 4 speed sensors, until i pointed out the traction control which needs the sensors. He was more bothered about the number plate screws, non-factory exhaust & movement in the headlights. All in all alot better than even i was expecting, did say the brake servo needs to go back on (would if i hadn't cut it up lol)

i was surprised how easy they were to fit, especially as the bolts haven't been undone for 14years lol. Hardest part was the front brace, the front 2 mounting points use existing holes in the subframe but they aren't threaded, so you have to get your hand inside the subframe to put the nut/washers in place & hold it there while you get all the washers, bar & nut on. I'll get some better pics once i've picked some batteries up for the camera

got my new HT leads, £7.50 of fuel & hopefully over the weekend i'll get chance to fire her up & see how it is. Also got a lovely pressie of jubilee clips so i can work more on the coolant pipes. Picked up a new USB-serial adaptor which seems to be working so hopefully i can set the traction control. Also i've seen pictures of the finished lightweight crank pulley, has got a minor adjustment to machine out so going to be a few more weeks yet, but he has weigh'd the final version & is 1.6kg lighter

the company making it himself is ARDtuning(.com), he's an ex-IPD employee who mainly does remaps. The group buy was done via Volvospeed & was $145 including shipping. He's realised the machining issues, they've made the larger P2 pulley's instead of the 850/70's so we've got to wait a bit longer. As for fitting its a direct replacement

had a mess today, new leads fitted & £7 of fuel. she fired up no problem but still really not right, had a thought could it be the overfuelling (VXR injectors on stock map) instead of a cylinder misfiring

Nice Pedro, think I've got a power steering pump somewhere if you want it.
many thanks for the offer sir, but i'm using a 5hitroen Saxo electric pump. Don't think an 850 pump will fit with a ME7 inlet either tbh

the wire is actually bolted & earthed to the ECU casing

lol well i do have a better story than that. I'd ran BT's fuel dry running her upto temp, done a few other little jobs the following day & thought i'd try starting her again. Few cranks & no sign of it firing, did get me worried because i there was a really strong smell of fuel. Checked over the engine & injectors & no sign of any leaks, tried again still nothing but fuel smell was really bad. Then remembered one of the jobs i'd done was getting the old fuel filter off, but hadn't put the new one on yet lol

Moved the screen bottle from the boot as it was higher than the wiper jets so just emptied itself lol, & got the hole cutter onto another of the doors. done a few bits & bobs, but its all just been little jobs. Not used the cutters yet, but the edging doesn't go wide enough to go over the double skinned lip :(

Moved the screen bottle from the boot as it was higher than the wiper jets so just emptied itself lol, & got the hole cutter onto another of the doors. Also took your advice & fitted cup washers onto the window screws, nicely hidden behind the seals now (need new one's as some idiot drilled holes in them lol). Also got the power steering pump swopped over, haven't tried it yet as i've got to connect it to the rack

http://img577.imageshack.us/img577/796/interior3p.jpg
passenger gets to keep an eye on the screen wash water level now lol (it is on a proper bracket, but cable tied just to make sure it stays there)

Bin it if it's no good mate, that's where it would have gone any way. :)

Liking the black bits (**cough**chav**cough**) disappointed there's no c/f there tho :(

Chap at work has a VXR. I mentioned pinching his injectors but when he started on about how I wasn't gonna have them, I pointed out that his mobile torque-steer machine didn't have enough injectors for it to be worth stripping lol.

And this bothers me a little - Fixing machinery for a living, the use of box-section is widely regarded as a strong, light means of support. However if you bolt it to something, through the middle of one of the faces, the face can collapse, especially under intense vibration, and you might find yourself tightening those bolts very regularly.
If you can get a cap welded to the ends, that'll give it a fighting chance ;)
