Hi, sorry for jumping straight to the point.
I'm looking to get a newer car soon and a facelift V70 (>01) is top of the list. I'm probably looking for a T5 but maybe a 2.4T if insurance isn't feasable.
Basically i'm after any info on what premiums are like on the T5/2.4T for young drivers. I'm 22 with 2yrs NCB (3 when i insure hopefully) and a minor ban for speeding on the motorway a couple of years ago (no points). Anyone can tell me what their premiums are, or what the best companies are to insure etc.
I'm currently paying just short of £700 on my '94 BMW 325 TDS (150bhp) and my Subaru Impreza Sport was £150 cheaper than that.
Second question is realistically what sort of MPG do you get out of both machines? And does the T5 need running on Super unleaded like most turbo sportscars or will it run ok on 95RON.
Cheers all.

Welcome to the site. I am no insurance expert and there are many variables. The average T5 insurance is around 600 quid. I would not wish to guess your circumstances or tell you where to get the best quote. There are many threads on that topic so I suggest you have a bit of a hunt around.
MPG is on average around 24 miles per gallon. Some do better some do worse. It depends a lot on age, condition and mileage of the vehicle - plus your own driving style. Remapping can help with both power output and MPG.
Welcome to the site! :wavey:

Hi mate,
Welcome to the site. :anmflower
I'm 28 and I pay £310 full comp for my insurance through HIC on my 147K, 95 'N' plate 850 T5 with CURRENTLY no mods... I have full NCB and no points. I live in a low premium area so I've been told, I think this can make quite a difference nowadays? I believe I'm also right in saying that your occupation means more than it used to, so I might b lucky there as well...hence the seemingly low premium for an under 30 y/old???
Last time I looked my average MPG was around 20...
Best o luck mate, :B_steerin
Mark.

Welcome to the forum. I pay around 600 pounds for modified T5 fully comp at age 24. This is with Adrian Flux but I got a few quotes around this price
You can run the T5 on 95 ron but they prefer 97+

Big alarm :)

now this may sound daft but i am insured through the rac so might want to try them as they have been the cheapest on most of my cars

Cheers for the replies. Just got an online quote off Norwich Union (been best of all companies for last 3years) and it won't quote me on the T5, guess I have to speak to the IndianInsuranceMachine2000 for that. But a 200bhp 2.4T is £150 cheaper than my Beemer :insane: must be all the airbags..

Was on phone to my insurance the other day over something trivial and got a quote on a 2001 T5 just to see what they said. Turns out I actually get £18 back on my premium! So for going from a 140bhp BMW to a 250bhp Volvo I get given £18. Time to sell up and find one now.
