Hi everyone. I just felt I needed to write this to advise you of my experiences of this forum. My views are not intended to offend anybody as you all clearly know a lot more about t5's than me.
I had been trying to sell my t5 saloon which was mint and had first offered it via the forum. Everyone seems to have an opinion that the market is flat/down/poor for t5's at the moment. Well I must tell you that I have not found this to be the case. Cars of 7 - 10 years old (IMO) will sell for what the viewer thinks its worth. I had tried to sell via ebay and you are all correct in that ebay is not a good place to sell a car if you want good money. Its a good place to sell if you need a quick sale but thats all.
Having had my T5 on this forum for a good month with no luck I placed it on ebay but was not prepared to see it sell for pennies.
I have today had it listed in Autotrader North West and on the day of publication sold it for £50 less than my asking price of £1650 ono.
They came to view it tonight and bought it there and then. If I had ebayed it I bet I wouldn't have got £1250 for it at the moment.
My t5 was a manual red (non met) no aircon and no leather. It was however truly immaculate with the paint work unblemished etc. At 107000 miles its a good quality car for the money.
I thoroughly enjoy reading posts and learning about t5's on this forum. I have however found it a little frustrating that people come up with a price that its worth out of thin air based on an opinion. My aim is to now purchase a v70 or 850 estate in the next few months at which time I will pay someone what I feel its worth. I am not really concerned about a book price because as we know T5's are not a normal car.
The guy who bought tonight travelled from Chester to Blackpool and his comment was that its a good motorway car. I then promptly demonstrated the cornering ability ( quite fast ) at which he added I'll take it!! LOL
No offence meant by any of my comments.... I just wanted people to know that your cars are worth more than you probably think if you are not in a rush. I am only gutted I couldn't get my hands on the Yellow T5 that just sold for £3500?? crazy money.

Glad to hear that you finally managed to sell your car and that you got what you wanted for it. I dont think Ebay is ever going to be an ideal place to sell a car , but as you say if your in a rush to shift it and dont mind dropping your price then its bearable.
I will be selling my own 850 estate in the very near future but I think Ebay will be my last port of call, good luck finding your new motor..

To sell your car for good money dont ever be in a rush.
It was well worth 1600 quid, judging by the write up, there is always someone out there that wants what you have, you just have to be patient ;)

You're comments are good ones. You've enjoyed reading the threads and learning about T5's. Fantastic, that's what the forum is for (well, one of the reasons anyway). It's a great place to be, stick around.
As for your comments re price, fair enough, you're entitled to your opinion. So is everyone else though. I haven't read these comments you mention but from what it sounds like, people were simply stating their opinion as to what they thought she was worth - exactly what a seller does - pays what they think it's worth.
You also point out that our cars are worth more than we think, IIRC, didn't you originally ask for over £2000 when she first went for sale on here? You eventually sold for £1,600.
Like I say, I'd be interested to revisit the thread to see what comments were made and what people thought she was worth.
Having re-read the above before clicking submit, it looks like I'm having a dig. I'm not. I'm just posting my opinion. Please don't think it anything other than this.
Finally, as for your new car, get a V70. I used to prefer the 850's but, having lived with her for a while, I now thoroughly love the V70. It's a little smoother looking, more modern interior and still every bit as much fun as the 850 (although the electronic throttle in the '99 on models isn't as brutal as the earlier x70 and 850 models) but they still retain some of the traditional boxy Volvo features.

Dont be gutted or patient ..call me and spend your cash on mine !!, there is a yellow one in my driveway with 18" pegs ( reps ) , nice car, manual etc tec that you can have ( in exchange for ££££'s ) to ease your pain LOL!!

Just read the thread in for sales. She was an absolute mint motor and looks like she's just rolled out of the factory - you don't see red red much these days.
As for the lower spec, I disagree that it devalues the car so much. OK, so it wouldn't sell quite as easily as a higher spec car but at the end of the day there's less to go wrong which many people prefer.
