Is anybody arranging a day to Santa Pod this year? Have always wanted to go (If finances permit at the time) sounds great fun and have something to prove with shadquattro! Mike

There will be probably half a dozen 1/4 mile meets arranged throughout the year between Santa Pod and Avon Park. Its a bit early to start arranging tho just yet ;) x
yes yes. count me in. thievin' gits- signing on price has increased to £20
Would be up for this, bit of a meet and chance to run if feeling brave. Been to the pod loads for various shows and the European championships etc but never actually run it. The thought of a sub 15 1/4 mile is quite something :)

18th of March @ Avon park, stratford, 1/4 mile day which I will be atending

Post 69383 by scooby555 on 2006-01-03 23:07:25

i shall pop along to Avon park only down the rd and get more runs for the money

Post 69390 by t5tart on 2006-01-03 23:34:21

I think i will be going to one of the pod meets this year both with the bike and the car will be my first time any tips ???

Post 69391 by BlackBeast on 2006-01-03 23:37:21

Dont stall at the start line :)

Post 69393 by t5tart on 2006-01-03 23:42:52

:jaw: I guessed that may help lol

Post 69395 by Al115 on 2006-01-03 23:45:33

Don't hold the car on the clutch at the start until it gives up the ghost! One of our number ran a 40 second 1/4 mile last year after a bit too long with the clutch at the biting point waiting for the off... and then I did the same thing myself at some traffic lights. Late staging is good staging LOL
I think i will be going to one of the pod meets this year both with the bike and the car will be my first time any tips ???
Uuummmmm.... go at the right time or you will look like an arse. I looked like an arse three times. :slap: I've even got Spesh on video tape saying 'someone tell him to go on the green light'. :bricks:

Post 69398 by t5tart on 2006-01-03 23:48:39

lol thought you were meant to anticipate the green lol

Post 69401 by Redbrick on 2006-01-03 23:52:42

lol Yeah I've got lightning reflexes. So lightning I anticipated it going green slightly early. The two times I got I waited until the light was green for a few secs and then I went. Didn't matter as the time was taken from when I started moving (I hope).

Post 69403 by Wobbly Dave on 2006-01-03 23:54:39

The majority run what is called a Sportsman's Tree. This means you are only timed from when your wheels leave the line. Reaction time is not taken into account.

Post 69404 by t5tart on 2006-01-03 23:56:23

ahh thats good even thogh i think my reactions are good would like to see what a true time is

Post 69468 by madness on 2006-01-04 10:17:31

and dont drive way past the start line and have to reverse. always makes me laugh

Post 69470 by madness on 2006-01-04 10:19:45

incidentally peeps, i have been in touch with a guy called jompa from sweden and he runs mickey thompsons on his s40 with 420bhp. standard trans apart from clutch - 11.5 1/4 . so i dont think there will be any reliability issues with slicks. likewise the t5's run similar apparently.

Post 69471 by madness on 2006-01-04 10:20:37

i still want a 13..... :slap:

Post 69483 by Wobbly Dave on 2006-01-04 11:12:49
ahh thats good even thogh i think my reactions are good would like to see what a true time is
I believe that a less than .4 sec reaction time in drag racing is considered a foul start and you'd get a red light (on a competition tree at least). The lights are great for racing yer mates although I found that to get a good time it was better to let your opponent go and concentrate on your own run.

Post 69497 by madness on 2006-01-04 13:09:23

you are correct Dave, on the basis apparently that the fastest human reaction is 0.4 sec.
