Volvo Guinness World Record Attempt - 21st April 2019 600 VOLVOS NEEDED....Read On Image The current Guinness World Record for the largest parade of Volvo cars is 570 and was achieved by Volvo Forum in association with Auto Boss (Poland) in Katowice, Poland on September 2010. The parade started on the border between Katowice and Chorzow and ended along the dual carriageway in Katowice. People travelled from Germany, Norway and Slovakia to witness the attempt. Our sights are firmly fixed on beating this World Record and we need your help.... Classic Car Weekly reports: A Volvo Facebook group wants to smash the current world record for the most Volvos travelling over a measured mile - and needs your help. VolvoTuning.Net (VT) has been in touch with the Volvo Owners Club, Volvo Enthusiasts' Club & Volvo Owners' Scotland to break the record of 570 Volvos in convoy, set eight years ago in Poland. The attempt is open to any classic or current Volvo owner, regardless of club membership. News of VolvoTuning.Net's bid, submitted to Guinness World Records, has stirred several American Volvo clubs into action. Stuart Mills, group admin, says: 'We must beat the Americans. Any breakdowns on the day and we'll get out and push, strictly to Guinness regulations, you understand!' Stuart remains confident that at least 600 cars could be made available for a record attempt next year. A tentative date is set for Sunday 21 April 2019. The venue for this World Record attempt is presently undecided although Bruntinthorpe & Rockingham have been suggested amongst many others. Sunday 21st April is currently the day you need to mark on your calendar...cancel everything else. UK Volvo Community Needs You. Will post updates as they arrive. Image

The event has really started to take flight. Volvo UK are now officially supporting the World Record Attempt both in promoting the event and on the actual day. We have also decided to support Breast Cancer Care for the World Record Attempt....seemed appropriate since Sunday 31st march is Mother's Day.

I think I read a post on FB that they had reached the 500 mark, but I would think they will need at least 700 sign up for 600 to turn up on the day, as meets go and people drop out and things change as the attempt day gets closer. I am hoping to get a minimum of 2 there, but my winter goal is to have 4 ready to attend, a tall order but we'll see.

just thought i'd get this post going again, the facebook group is now upto 833 confirmed Volvo's attending. That doesn't include people taking more than 1 car, or obviously those not on Facebook. 1200 cars has been mentioned by those in charge, so its going to be an amazing day #becauseNOSH

It's a shame that it failed to beat the record (*), but here's to the 2020 attempt. (*) not recognised by Guinness World Records.

Guinness denied the record attempt, It was deemed that the spacing between the cars on the parade lap was excessive and therefore it didn't count. GWR page confirms Poland meeting record still stands. https://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/world-records/largest-parade-of-volvo-cars I believe another attempt is being planned for 28th June 2020.

Post 819040 by MoleT-5R on 2019-09-28 19:14:00

Not sure I'll bother after last times fiasco, the goal posts were moved and no one was told we were trying for 2 different records than the one we were orginallly going for, so when the cars moved off by line and not all together as we originally were informed, then no one knew what was happening and no wonder there were big gaps....total waste of a day and the fuel too.....very disappointed in the organisation tbh

Post 819071 by Timo. on 2019-10-06 11:04:30

What a sham.... Glad I didn't bother going. That is mega frustrating.
