I've been looking for quite a while for a replacement for the R, it was obviously going to be another Volvo, my search engine knows of no other car brand. So I was thinking of a S/V60 D5 but Adrienne was determined to get a smaller car so that left me with the V40. They aren't that small when your in them, I feel closer to the roof but I think the rear leg room would easily compete with my S60, I actually think there is more but I need to get an adult to sit behind me to find out. So I took the plunge and got what I think is a rather nice 2013 V40 D4 R-design lux. I paid rather a lot for this car and could have got a 2016 model for about the same money but the spec level is pretty incredible and it has most extras. It is missing the dynaudio system, I was hoping to get one with that and there was another one for sale with much higher miles that had it but it didn't have half the extras of this one. Here she goes then: Image Image Image Image Can't wait to detail the car, it will be nice to have some young paint to maintain again. I've applied a quartz coating to the wheels so far. Image I've also changed out the rear indicator bulbs for chrome ones, I may change these to LED but at almost £16 for one bulb that will have to wait. Image Image Last thing to do just now is fit the new style rear badge Image I don't have much plans for the car but I would like to: Tint windows Get wind deflectors Wrap all the chrome parts in black Up until 2 seconds ago a polestar remap but just got told it's not available for my car, I'm happy with that as it's bloody expensive anyway. It could benefit from being lowered but realistically I won't do that. Anyway on that note my much loved P2 R will be up for sale in the near future [emoji17] I've got a new rear bumper on order from Volvo so once that's fitted I will get it onto the trader. They seem to be going for good money these days so not all bad. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I also found out that Volvo started some cost reduction plan pish. On the newer V40s they have done away with things like the drivers roof grab handle, front seat pockets, various lighting I.e certain boot lights and roof lights, the R design grill badge and seat embroidery even down to the plastic covers that cover the bolts on the front seat rails! Pretty disgusting actually so glad I didn't go for a newer one, my mother in law has a 2014 V40 and I did notice the seat pockets weren't there so I will have a further dig about next time I see the car Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

It will be a hole lot easier to keep looking clean than a black one. ;)

I just watched a 2017 video of a Red V40 R-Design from a trader and it did have stitching on the leather/Alacantara seats. Maybe for the seats at least, it's an optional extra? Front seat pockets...who uses them anyway? I occasionally put my wallet in it but found it would rub slightly under my knee. Anyway, it's an awesome car you bought mate and I hope it gives you many trouble free miles  One thing I do know.....have you looked in the boot under the floor yet? You do know it doesn't have a spare wheel as standard! Just a useless pot of slime and an air pump. If I were you, I'd remove all that pish and chuck a Volvo space saver in the hole. oh yeah, it does look the muts nuts on the dark Pegs too

So my above comment about the cost reductions was taken from a V40 website. I have a 17 plate V40 R-design courtesy car. It has the front pockets, I keep my little mag light in there. It doesn't have the R-design embroidered into the chair or have the front grill badge, nor does it have the drivers grab handle but it does have the rear interior lights that was apparently taken out too, so god knows it's a bit of a miss mash. I can say though that this car feels very very basic even in the R-design trim, it doesn't have heated seats or heated windscreen not even cruise, I thought all these options where almost standard these days. I'm with you Lee the mother in law got the spare wheel kit for her V40 cc and I put it in, lucky mine has it any way.

Got a new boot mat today, how interesting [emoji19] Image And fitted my 2 new badges, the D4 one had to be moved over to allow for the correct spacing Image Image Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
