Christmas is a time for celebrations and spending time with family and loved ones BUT for many it’s a time of sadness and isolation. Those less fortunate find themselves homeless and sleeping on the streets, desperate for warmth and vulnerable from the cold, suffering from hunger & health issues and often ignored by society…. this year VT want to help with the:
Xmas Shoebox for the Homeless
We are kindly asking members if they would like to fill a shoebox with inexpensive items that people who find themselves Homeless would find useful, especially in the cold weather. Items such as:
Warm Hat & Gloves
Thermal Socks
Tooth Brush & Toothpaste
Soap & Shampoo
Antiseptic Cream
Plasters
Anti Fungal Talc Powder
Lip Balm or Chapstick
Cough Sweets / Lozenges/ Fishermans Friends
Hairbrush or Comb
Facecloth
Wet Wipes
Sanitary Towels
Pen
Note Book / Puzzle book or Magazine
Small LED torch and Batteries
Personal Card with Message or Gift
Chocolate, Sweets or Gum
PLEASE NO ALCOHOL OR CASH
Once people have filled their shoebox, it can be couriered to VT HQ in Sheffield. Couriers such as Hermes are inexpensive and would charge approx £2.75 up to 2kg to deliver within the UK if you use one of your local Hermes Drop Off Points.

The deadline for receiving the Shoeboxes is Sunday 11th December, this gives time for the distribution of the gifts to a local Charity in the Sheffield area that helps the homeless and provides invaluable services direct to people in need.
By filling a Shoebox you will be making a huge difference to a vulnerable person this Christmas….Just one random act of kindness is all it takes to make a huge difference to a homeless person’s wellbeing at this desperate time of year.

Definately.....looking forward to collecting the items whilst out over the next few days. Casey, my 11 year old daughter has said she wants to do one specifically for a female homeless person.
I think from the initial response on Facebook, we should see 50+ shoeboxes which would be fantastic.

Be wary of some of the school appeals, some are known to fill the boxes with religious paraphernalia...it's well documented and are to be avoided imo.
These boxes will go directly to the people that need them....any contribution to our appeal Steve will be most appreciated. Thanks

Job Done....20 minutes in Home Bargains with my VT Homeless Appeal shopping list - ticked off every item resulting in a grand total £16.97 !! Result.....
Will be doing a second box with my daughter, that will be filled with items for a homeless female - essentially the same items but with more some hair care products and sanitary towels etc.

It's for a very good cause guys. We'd have got it there sooner but our house completed earlier than expected so it's been a bit hectic. The 'small' fish and chips were delicious, thank you.
