Hi Guys,my brother has a 2003 V70D5,last night we were going out and while going along there was a noise like a "ping" from the front and 500 yards later there was like a back fire sound and the car lost turbo power. i dont know if both noises were linked.anybody had the same or similar problems? the car drove home fine just minus power.
Might have just popped a hose or the intercooler.
i hope its not the intercooler as it had a brand new one a few weeks ago!
As martin said its probably just a hose off the intercooler check the ote to intercooler hose or the intercooler to etm hose the fact you've just fitted a new intercooler makes this prognosis more likely as you probably didn't nip up the jubilee clip enough and the hose has popped off the pinging would be the jubilee clip being left on the road
thanks guys you were right! the hose had come off the intercooler as it was not tight.it was fitted by a trained volvo mechanic of 12 years......when i put my R up for sale on here in a few weeks i cant really say its been looked my volvo mechanic since 2014 lol
Think a large percentage of us have had the exact same problem at one time or another lol
