I have an elm327 bluetooth obd adapter. It works with M4.4 ecus and upwards. You can pick them up off ebay for £5. Though beware there are some fakes unfortunately. I use my android phone and the Torque app to read the codes.
Hi Dave, Sorry to revive an old thread but do you know if you're able to record things like boost rpm etc on the Torque app? I have an m4.4 on my 850 t5 and keen to start monitoring. Cheers
You can but the protocol the M4.4 uses has a very slow refresh rate so logging is pretty much useless unless you want to just get some general values. If you have (or can flash if you have the ability to) the modified M4.4 binary then you can log at a much faster rate. For more info see the M44 wikia https://m44.fandom.com/wiki/M44_Wiki
Ah ok thanks Dave, I think I’ll install a boost gauge instead for looking at boost. I know kmb has used an elm327 and torque app for fault scanning so will use it for thst.
Yep - I used the little blue ELM327 as mentioned by others above, did the trick quite nicely and a bargain at under a fiver, can't remember looking at boost pressure with it. Does a nice job with rpm though.
Boost pressure isn't logged by the M4.4 unfortunately (as there is no pressure sensor fitted).

Yup that's right, though you'll need the modified M4.4 binary developed by the Volvospeed guys.
