Just bought this sight unseen off eBay. :-D It's a 2007, auto. Has a few wee issues, one number plate light not working, one headlight not working, has a stone chip in the lens, one front fog light smashed, it hunts when cold, there's an anti-slip light on the the dash and sometimes its a bit slow to change gear. Any help greatly appreciated.

Brave man buying one of these unseen. Shem had a set of R lights up for sale. I'd get the code read with VIDA and go from there. Is it using any coolant? A stumble on idle when cold can be a sign of a split linner...

It doesn't seem to be using coolant, but I've only had it a couple of days. It's doesn't stumble so much as hunt a bit, rising up and down the rev range until it gets warm.?

Where in the world are you? I'd strongly advise getting it to an R 'Specialist' so they can have a look. That might not be a main dealer, just depends on the level of training of the person looking at it for you.

Nice car I saw that for sale, I think the chap sells a lot of Volvos. Over here it would be mad road tax being 07, but when I was in Dublin taxi driver told me it was expensive there. Check the vac lines from under inlet manifold and all in general

If you need a new block I might have a 49k shimmed one soon available. Fingers crossed not :( Hunting and not missing when cold sounds like a vac leak as above.

The number plate light could just be a bulb, but be very very careful removing the bulbs. The holders are terrible and break easily, and they can't be bought separately. You have to buy the boot switch, which has the bulb holders attached to it. Expensive at around £100 for just a couple of wires and a switch.

Might be worth taking the plunge and getting it to Shem or Tim mate. THey both have decent amounts of bits lying and breakers etc.

I can't see it going back across the Irish sea any time soon. Itll need to be tested and taxed first, which means it needs sorted. :'(

Question is, replace the damaged part, or African-American engineer a solution to prevent a repeat?
