As above, does anyone have any first hand experience of these, I've read then horror stories about them, (but then I've read the horror stories about the S60R, and our's hasn't been a problem) I also read good reviews, so any first hand experience would be good.

Only 2nd hand experience i'm afraid but, I asked my local independent volvo garage about them because i spotted a nice one for sale recently and the main thing they said to careful of was the gearbox. The combination of power, weight and grip means that, if not looked after, they don't have a long life.

Gearboxes mate, steer clear. Same with early D5's. They can't take the torque. The later 6 speed geartronics are fine AFAIK, but the T6's were long gone by then.

Yeah, I've read of gearbox woes as well, just wondered if it was just a case of people reporting when they've had problems, when people who don't have problems don't.

My garage basically said that because of the age of them, the ones still working now are on borrowed time.

Brave man to buy a T6 auto & if there's a tow bar fitted just don't waste your time.

T6 manuals must be rare, i can't recall seeing one.

i had a 2004 XC90 T6 brand new, it had its turbos changed at 6 months old, intercooler replaced with a larger item, remap and gearbox oil pressure increased, running approx 360bhp. It ran from 20k miles to 150k in this state of tune faultless however i did have the oil changed every 5k and gearbox oil changed every 20k.

Iirc it's a completely different box a gm box, are they 4sp? Accounting for the slow 0-60 05 the 6sp came into volvos, but they are very good robust boxes, never fitted to the t6 xc90 afaik. Better off getting the v8, probably not much in mpg difference and they're 6sp and fully loaded.
