hi Guys, if i get some external Projector Lights on my v70, which giving a Light output of 7000k HID and a distance for around 550 meter would this still be in terms of - legal ? the normal beam-lights in the uk should be around 106-125 meter ir so. which really is crap sometimes driving country lanes. would i get away with it? i mean all in all some 4x4 driving around with them new led lightbars too.
Do they have the E code on them? It will be an upper case E inside a circle which shows that it conforms to ECE regulations. You can not fit any lighting that does not have this E code. More info about E codes: www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/lights/codes/codes.html
no it dosnt. but all the aftermarket drl and beamlights dont have them. i had dozzens on my cars and all past the mot with. is just them spotlights are cheap and not seen them in small sizes 5.7cm diamter. which fit nicely hideable. be honest, e marked lights having not more output as the standart headlights.

i looked at both. but there again, yes they have wide angel. not a longrange. my intention is to et the lightout put to increase further, not wider. to make it wide you can use foglights with high powered hid bulbs. there is nothing e marked on the marked which increase the distance above 250 meters maximum. i had years back some hellas spotlights which had the range of 500 but i cant find them anymore

answer from the manufacturer, in some cases it is known the reflectors are reaching up to 400 meter. they are designed for mainly wide angel and more light output to see animals or people on the sides but not for a extrem longer range. this is for the obvious reasons it would be increasingly dangerous using such lights legally as it would blind oncoming traffic in case of forgotten to switch off. this is due to the necessary installation and beamreflector construction for any amount on longange distance such as search floodl ights used on marine equipment. i knew all this, so what's the point buying them for a lot money if i can get them cheaper? its not the wide angel i want, its he long range i am after. i know the urge by most people is the legallity of things but i see myself before any govt or some none driving license owners which makes regulations. defo not an eu fan. them lights i am after not intend to use like a chav and blind anybody which comes along the way, but for me to terminate any obstruction on long distance while driving nights on lonely country lanes.
