On various forums I frequent people post up images and videos of people, cars, accidents etc etc. My question is do the people who post them up have to have permission from the person/persons who originally made the photo/video. On this forum alone people put links up to video clips which have lots of people in them, can that be allowed?

if you look for something in google e.g t5r you'll most likely see a pic or two of your own car that's been posted on forums before

You have to credit the author, it can be a minefield, but the author doesn't always have to give permission, Google is your friend Mike

technically you should ask permission for any source material you use that you dont have owner ship of, however there are a few loopholes to this where by if it is for personal/nonprofit/eductaional use or to be used as part of a parody of either the original source material or to parody another material.

We have rules for this. Basically only post stuff that you own or have permission to post.
