Been thinkng about it for a while and need a second car, just a cheaply to park on the drive if I need one. So thought I'd go rwd, and bought a bargain 1998 r reg 940 2.3 manual fully load, low miles and low owners. Fortunately I have a spare k24 or 19ts and blue injectors (alter resistor near battery for injectors) I'll be looking at a 850r clutch and ttv flywheel in future and have some spare big brakes knocking about as well. I believe these ones have the 13.5mm conrods, m90 box, and can make 350-450bhp on standard internals (depending on where you read it) Also heard they have a locker rear diff?? Or similar not too sure about that. Advise is appreciated.
How is this a second car when you have the V70R, and 850.
I've got 2 850s (now) down from 3 and v70r is daily. Gul is off to Volvo as press car, green 850r is being lent to a friend on long loan. I'll just have the v70r and 940 here, I'll sort these projects out and then maybe look at buying another 850 possibly.

It looks amazing. I'm always find myself admiring the RWD models. They don't make them like that anymore. Less electronics to go wrong, too.

Yep and can't wait to pick it up in the morning, I'm being quiet as formulating a plan ref modding it lol. I already have most of the main bits.

Well the car is back home after sailing it back. It's very soft and wallowy, omg that's gonna be sorted first! Second it's slow, but did 110 (kph obviously) but the last owner was disabled and did 4,000 miles a year and had a caravan, so I really doubt it went over 60mph, so guessing needs a bit of hard driving to help. Plus side it's pretty mechanically ok and a good starting point, having a yearly oil change (retired mechanic). I think he quite liked tinkering with it and had it 11 years and one owner before him. Loads of little dings / scrapes and a broken indicator, which I wasn't bothered over and adds to the rat look.

Here a brief pic, I even like the shabby look. I'm thinking of getting a GB sticker for the back.
Here a brief pic, I even like the shabby look. I'm thinking of getting a GB sticker for the back.
Don't! All 940's have to have Gary Barlow badge an A A badge! Forest commission one is optional..

Get a National trust sticker for it.

Should rename this "project grandads car" Just ordered my chip to raise rev limit and remove fuel cut. Just need to decide which turbo is going on. Most likely 19t, but which injectors? Also ordered the big steelies (wheels) do i band or not?

I'll have a look but, it's not top priority, I'll sort wheels, suspension and brakes first. But be nice if it has one, not sure what the mod is done to it.
