I know Liam and others are prone to drunk car purchases.... My fall down is surfing eBay when tired..!!
I've just 'accidentally' bought a 2000 Volvo V40 TDi....... Oops......I know I'm going to hate it!!
This make you laugh - Advert stated, "collection within 3days", so I tried to arrange to collect tonight/tomorrow. Seller just messaged back to say,"I'm not back until Monday" this gives me basically one day...shame I'm off to Wales on Sunday for a week then Yorkshire for 2days!!!
Will post up my views on it when I get it home.
I think I may need to accelerate the sale of the S40.... Anyone want a T4 (or the diesel if I hate it that much)...?????

Just don't think it's a T4 in disguise...
Post 729851 by JUDGENINJA on 2014-08-15 21:49:20
It'll be driven like a T4!!

The diesels are nippy upto about 80 then they seem to slow down lol,you could map it too 143hp up from 115bhp or am i thinking P2 engines again, the p1 might have only 110hp.

Who knows...?? I'm getting it on the 26th, but I doubt I'll be making any performance changes to it other than a set of wheels.

I hope you didn't pay more than £300 for it. ;)

Sitting on train.. Sorting insurance(£224 with 0 NCB...lol).
Shortly be off for a 2mile walk to the garage to collect it.
Fingers crossed the brakes aren't too bad, but I'll be giving all cars a super wide birth for the first few miles.
(Pics tomorrow)
Shopping list so far:
16" alloys - GOT
Leather interior.
Brakes and handbrake.
I'll be doing what Jamest5 is doing by spending more on parts than savings...but I only do 4miles to work so I am pretty cheap anyway!!
Plus at this rate this is the car that'll be going round TRAX!!

Talking of insurance, I've found the cheapest way to insure multiple cars is with a traders policy. The only car of ours they won't cover is the S70, as it's on business use insurance, but I can drive any car up to £7,500, and it's cost me £720 for the year.

I've tried this in the past, but couldn't get a recommended company.
Anyway total insurance on the three is about the same..

Don't you need to prove your a trader to have a traders policy??
I've tried many times to get one but no chance...

I told them I was doing it as a sideline, they know I have a full time job, I was put onto it by a mate who does the same thing. If they want proof, then I've bought 3 cars this year, and the Focus will be sold on, but, even if I hadn't, my mate and I will just write out receipts for each other to show that we've bought and sold cars. ;)
If you want the number for a very good trade insurance company, let me know, and I'll PM you their details. :D

I'm BACK...... Think I'm having a crisis I enjoyed the drive home at 70MPH...
Car still manages "immediate" licence taking speeds....eventually....
Overall first impressions are good, interior is pretty naff with a very basic equipment level:

itchy cloth interior - not bad condition, but I'll have a closer look in the light

Skinny Steering wheel

Front Electric windows only

No cruise control

No A/C

No heated seats

No trip computer
Car has a variety of issues:

Headlight cracked, with a very poor beam pattern

Variety of interior dash bulbs not working

Vibration when I press the brakes, emergency stop was OK, but slight pull to one side.

Handbrake lever pointing to the moon

steering feels a be vague and it does feel like it wants to wander
So I suspect wishbones/droplinks/track rod ends, a seized caliper or sliders, warped discs, handbrake cables and knackered headlights.
I'll know more when I get it up on stands.
So to summarise - I'm selling off a T4 running 200+BHP for a 100BHP Diesel........... how low can my life get? It isn't like I actually have major money issues requiring me to take drastic action!!!.
Good night I need to go and lie down and have a good talking to....

Wayne, joking aside, there's a 40 series or two in the local scrappy. There's nice black leather etc. Worth a look one weekend if you're bored.
