Hey guys bought a 53 plate C70 2.0t convertible at the weekend and I love it, however having owned a C70 T5 before I can honestly say the power in this thing is awesome, it runs and sounds like a T5! What's the easiest way of checking that the engine hasn't actually had a T5 lump stuck in it. Maybe it's just me being daft and thinking my god it's quick for a 2.0.

Front of the Timing belt cover usually has a white label stating engine code

check the engine number. if it has had an engine swap, it would have been, engine, turbo and ecu or been remapped. but i dont see why they would have gone through all the trouble. you may just have a nice quick 2.0t

Yea this is true, although my last T5 was a 2.4 with the T5 lump added, but yea it's really quick for a 2.0 I'll check tomorrow handbrake has decided to stick on now and when I'm trying to reverse it's jolting on I could cry haha

they are not as slow in the real world as people think, just for reference its not as easy as just chucking a T5 motor in a ME7 car, a lot more involved and no you cant just swap the ECU's between cars

Yea I know, as I've done it before had a c70 2.4 and had the T5 lump put in ;)

Iirc, if it's the 2.0, it'll have Orange injectors.

As AAnickmac says, I bet it's been remapped. You get a lot of low down torque in a LPT, so it will feel very frugal if it's been remapped.

It's not a lpt, but it definitely shifts and it sounds amazing everyone turns and looks when they hear it purr lol :)
