Ive just been given a nice unexpected PPI refund so I've been looking at 2 turbo's, 19T and 20T. Both have a billet compressor and 9 blade turbine. I am thinking 20t but any opinions will be great.

PPI pay out are nice as I've just received one :) I'd go for the 20T

I ordered the 20t billet wheel this morning, but I'm running the 11blade exhaust wheel. The 19t with billet wheels been proved to be good for 344bhp

Owens 19T??? http://www.owendevelopments.co.uk/product/405/Owen_Developments_MHI_TD04_64HTA_Volvo_Upgrade/ No personal experience of using this, it was just on the list for the future (very far future when I win the lotto)

I did look at that a while ago, bloody expensive though. IIRC, it was about £1200

Change your rods befor fitting that turbo

Post 699623 by jamesy12345 on 2014-03-31 13:22:16

I vote for putting the PPI money into Premium Bonds and keeping it until you have enough for the Owen's 19T and rods and get rid of that cone filter :D Looks like our lasses cat needs rebuilding at the vets, so might be a while off before I get near one!

Well, the rods and bending were looked into. The main cause of bending rods is a bad tune, mainly cause by knock/Detonation. Make sense really. The tune it is having is going to be done over a long period of time with loads of data logging. The Rods are on the list to do in the future at some point though, Ive got the money to do them but Im going to see how I get on. Cone is going for so many reasons

Who tuned your car

Post 699629 by Avinitlarge on 2014-03-31 13:51:02

I am tuning it. Ive done it before on a Mondeo, tuned it over a few weeks. That had stock rods, stock pistons which I had ceramic coated. T28 running 19psi, The only thing that I broke was the turbo and that was down to not using a restrictor on the oil feed.

Post 699659 by T5RatherAmusin on 2014-03-31 18:18:40

chris had the owens 19t on that day at 332hp

Post 699660 by graemewelch on 2014-03-31 18:23:35

Chris car isnt mapped for a 19t. He should be good for 370 with some mapping

Post 699662 by T5RatherAmusin on 2014-03-31 18:26:21

ye i know it was runnin a custom mte map but still hitting 1.6 bar with it

Post 699750 by graemewelch on 2014-03-31 21:30:03

itll be a animal with the correct mapping. his car was badly surging on the dyno. 1.6 bar is a lot of boost. i made 356 bhp with 1.25 bar of boost with a autotech map

Post 699758 by WOODY T5 on 2014-03-31 21:55:25

Got 342 from my 19t @ 1.3 bar
