Visiting VT on Friday morning (4th November) if anyone in the local area fancies a pop down. Will be there from 9am for about half a day. :)

Post 54452 by aeroresh on 2005-11-03 12:31:12

I may be there, (well my car certainly will, 'cos its been there since last Thrusday...dont ask, my car has gremlins!). The guys should be finishing off my 19T Stage 2 upgrade and then hopefully fitting the upgraded suspension and WP Pro brakes. :) Aiken, may see you there :B_steerin

might have time to swing by for lunch

Post 54455 by Aiken on 2005-11-03 12:35:20

Nice one guys, look forward to meeting you all if you have the chance to swing by, should be there over the lunch period, in no hurry to get back to the North East, and the work being carried out will take a while to do...
and the work being carried out will take a while to do...
Which work is that then ;) x

Post 54460 by Aiken on 2005-11-03 12:43:03

RICA (310), back cat exhaust, ITG filter, and possibly brakes?, strut brace? (if they have one) and prob a few minor fault codes trivial things (fingers crossed). We shall see once the diagnostics are run...

Having had bronchitis myself 3 times - all due to smoking - I know how deeply unfunny it is. Get well soon!

Post 54489 by Vikingxl on 2005-11-03 14:51:22

Cheers Wobbly

Post 54492 by Wobbly Dave on 2005-11-03 14:58:46

...that's why I stopped.

Post 54494 by Aiken on 2005-11-03 14:59:52

That's why i'm stopping! (In Progress)

Post 54499 by Martinr on 2005-11-03 15:09:46

No better way to give up smoking than buy a T5. Hard to afford both!! Don't think Rich smokes so his bronchitis may have another origin. Certainly anyone who has met him wouldn't put him down as a weed :) PS Get well soon mate.

Post 54500 by Unknown on 2005-11-03 15:12:46

I admire anyone who can quit smoking. It's a very hard and challenging thing to do both physically and mentally. Well done!!!!

Post 54518 by Aiken on 2005-11-03 16:02:28

I hear it's probably one of the hardest things one can do in their entire lives. Problem with me, I helped my stopping by smoking Cigars, later to find out that having 5 Cigars is the same as smoking 40 ciggies, cept that you absorb more nicoteen as its mainly in your mouth and have a higher risk of mouth cancer... SO, hooked on Cigars at the moment, not good...

Post 54545 by Aiken on 2005-11-03 16:42:10

Well, I only just started, somewhat unintentionally, so its Hamlet, since im not seasoned, and seem to be what I can get package with my 97 RON BP Ultimate. I need to quit from the Cigars though, or I might as well take up smoking again! lol

Post 54547 by S60D5 on 2005-11-03 16:57:51
I need to quit from the Cigars though, or I might as well take up smoking again!
Live fast, die young - thats what I say! I'm a Villiger man myself (premium no 3), although I do have a lot of King Edwards. I started with Hamlets but I find them a little rough now after trading up to the larger cigars! To get this back on topic(ish) if a Hamlet was a T5, the Villiger no3 would be a RICA T5! :) Seriously, try one sometime - they're so smooth!

Post 54549 by Aiken on 2005-11-03 17:06:19

Don't encourage me!!! But with 6 hours of driving ahead of me, hopefully 3 with RICA, I might just give it a go when I fill up with fueola.

Post 54569 by Vikingxl on 2005-11-03 17:36:38

Post 54584 by Aiken on 2005-11-03 18:18:15

Thanks, will see how it goes, with the engine management light on hope there is nothing too serious wrong, but wont know until the codes are read.

Post 54893 by Vikingxl on 2005-11-04 18:51:01

Well i made it to Vt but it was after lunch and i felt awful so booked the wifes car in and left sorry if you where there and i didnt stop to chat maybe next time.

Post 54934 by aeroresh on 2005-11-04 21:20:34

Ah, that was you was it Rich! Ive just this second got in myself.....minus T5 and in the VT supplied Fiesta :frown: Something is still amiss as its suffering detonation everytime boost is increased above 1.1 bar. Nice to meet Aiken and friend and Wobbly Dave too, even if he did scare us all stupid demonstrating his 19T C70! It always nice to put faces to names.

Post 54960 by Al115 on 2005-11-04 22:28:16

Is it a RICAd Fiesta? ;)

Post 54964 by Vikingxl on 2005-11-04 22:48:30

Not THE FIESTA must have been a nice trip back.Sorry i wasnt very sociable but really didnt feel well when are you back?

Post 54968 by Aiken on 2005-11-04 22:57:57

Yo, Just got in myself, well the journery home was an adventure to say the least. Basically, excellent job by VT, it was an entertaining day, exhaust, brakes and RICA all okay. But, on the way home, about 140 miles into the 240 mile journey, driving moderately between 70 - 80 on average due to traffic, shifted down to third gear and accelerated hard.... guess what :-) ... booooom, nice backfire, oh shat wait, no, that was the turbo popping! (We think). Basically, connected the boost gauge that was previously disconnected, the car will go okay, but will not boost at all, in fact, when it tries to boost, it makes a nice groan from the front where the turbo is located and loses power. Check out the car, all oil present etc (in engine at least) and again drove normal if not trying to use any boost. Anyone have ideas what it could be, is the turbo pooped, is it something else? It definately appears to be trying to work, just doesnt. Aeromesh, sorry to hear your stucj in the fiesta for more time! Nice meeting you, it was definately a reality tv show day :-)

Post 54980 by Vikingxl on 2005-11-04 23:24:29

Sorry to hear you are having problems hope its nothing too serious/expensive

Post 54986 by Aiken on 2005-11-04 23:46:58

Me too :-) what I can add to my problem is that the car is not in limp mode. It's too dark and late to go check all the pipes, but by the deep sound it makes, I think its the turbo internals (what do I know, I know jack about cars :-) ) P.S. Thanks to Wobbly for a trip in his C70 :jaw:

Post 55014 by aeroresh on 2005-11-05 09:01:28

Aiken, Im no expert but I suspect your problem is down to your crackered ETM! :slap: The ECU is probably getting all sorts of funny readings and may be putting the wrong amounts of fuel in....I think you're going to have to bite the bullet and visit your local friendly stealer! The Fiesta has a RICA sticker but I suspect this is the extent of its modifcations!...nippy enough though and actually feels bomb proof.

It was a bit greasy with the drizzle so I apologise for getting a bit carried away on the roundabouts. I hope you enjoyed the ride

Yes, it was great fun Dave, I hope my car goes and stops as well as yours does when its finished. :B_steerin

Aeroresh, when do you get your car back from VT?

Post 55386 by aeroresh on 2005-11-06 20:41:39

mmmm.....good question! Maybe it'll be... :eclipsee_ Seriously, I'm a patient kind of guy and I know the car is in the best hands....just got a wait a little longer!...It was sounding sweet on the dyno tho'.

Post 55412 by SaffronC70 on 2005-11-06 22:13:52

Aeroesh, out of interest, what power is it making ? Chris

Post 55417 by aeroresh on 2005-11-06 22:22:31

at the mo, with the 19T on, its making 270 BHP at the wheels at only 1.1 bar. Not bad, but the ECUs pulling the ignition if more boost is applied. It appears to be detecting knock even though there isn't any. Thought it may be down to a bad batch of Optimax at first but I suspect its more likely to be another dodgy sensor somewhere along the line. :slap:

Post 55424 by SaffronC70 on 2005-11-06 22:35:37

excellent ! going to really fly ! Let us know how you get on - I run BP Ultimate with little problems as the nearest Optimax filling point is a 15 odd mile round trip away ! Chris

I have encountered more than a few niggles and that along the way and touch would all is OK now. Such is the nature of custom tuning. I have ever confidence that it will be right in the end. Just think of all the ££ you're saving on petrol!
