pmsl, look forward to being in the unlimited class all u T5 lot ! interesting they don't split 4wd and 2wd . everywhere else does
Strange isn't it, starting to wish I hadn't chopped the V70R in for the S70..... Here are the Crail results from 10th November last year, just to show what is in that class: Top 20 placing will do me :)

depends on the weather mate. isn't that right next to the sea at crail?
depends on the weather mate. isn't that right next to the sea at crail?
Yes right on the coast, just down from St Andrews. A bit of rain and I should be able to crack 19th place with my 55-section winter tyres :D

Post 680816 by jamesy12345 on 2014-01-16 13:05:35

I can't see any 'shell grip' on the startline like at York (the yellowey stuff they have started coating junctions & roundabouts with).....but Crail itself looks nice :) Hopefully it will be dry track, damp air and freezing cold!
i might be up for that. how far from us it james.
Good on yer fella, time to unleash that 350 hp!! 200 miles though, it's a bit of a hike....the A68 is a more interesting route than the A1 via Berwick

Post 680824 by graemewelch on 2014-01-16 13:24:51

probobly to far for me then. its either that or miss the rolling road day. is that 200 mile each way. i should get it down the strip. im thinking of selling it again.

Post 680831 by graemewelch on 2014-01-16 13:36:52

my problem is the dyno day is going to cost me a tank a of fuel plus a hotel for at least one night then anothe £150 to go on the drag in scotland. i just dont have that kind of money. i dont even use the volvo much these days now. hense why im thinking about selling it.

Looking at my rotations I think no chance of getting down to York in May - had a word with Ming the Merciless (the boss), the conversation didn't go well due to our lass recently letting two stray cats into the accomodation and me breaking the bed :S hotel room bill coming up haha

Some info from Scott at Crail, prices seem OK: The gates open at 9:30am and the track starts at 10:00am, we run the track until 4:00pm. There is a £10 entry fee per person and £15 per driver for the 1/4 mile.

Response from Crail about the weather.... We very rarely cancel event, only if we have snow or ice on the track really. If we do have to cancel we will publicize it on facebook and our website as soon as we can. We don't use any type of track prep, we found track prep actually reduces grip in the wet, also we found out wears off too quickly. Can't say fairer than that. Depends on what kind of coating you are using I guess but looks like game on :)
so basically i dont need a helmet cause my car is slow
I wouldn't put it like that but seems that if we can't crack 120 by the end of the quarter we can be helmetless...shame I fancy one of these... Anyway, I have asked Crail to confirm. edit: just noticed a reply from Crail in my inbox: We do recommend helmets, and can hire you one if need be, but we only insist on helmets for cars exeeding 120mph and soft tops. If you do need to hire a helmet we charge £15, but you do get £10 when you return it. Any C70 convertibles attending? :)

As nice as that Shark helmet was above, it didn't meet Snell SA2010 requirements :( so I picked up a second-hand Hedtec one instead.... http://www.hedtec.co.uk/ Pretty boring design but meets the MSA regulations so can be used for Hillclimbs etc. I'll be taking it to Crail if anyone wants to use it, if they don't mind sharing a sweaty helmet....like my head it is large :)

yeah its always a good start to the rally year. although this year i think its going to be the wetman rally rather than snow! i'm part of the service/chase team for a group of friends, this year we have 5 cars to look after. 4 evo's and a mk2 escort. personally i'm bored of seein evo rally cars, they might get the results but they arent half boring to watch. now a 300bhp Gp4 mk2 escort is more like it.
