Now this may be a stupid question, but Got my first message on the dash today, sayin ALARM SERVICE REQUIRED.....! now i like to think i'm relatively mechanically minded and will have a go at sorting anything but what the hell does that even mean. does it mean the batterys in my key fob are needing changed, i cant see how else you could service an alarm?

It means the battery in the alarm siren has leaked all over the pcb and ruined it. Perfectly normal on the P2 I'm afraid. It's about 130 quid for the replacement kit that comes with siren and bonnet catch(es) The siren is hiding behind the washer tank on the o/s. Bumper off job I'm afraid.

Alternatively, just ignore it, it goes away after a few seconds ;)

haha, just been out to the car to grab lunch and noticed it had gone away! looks like that'll be forgotten about until i get time to take the front off then. so i take that means i have no alarm siren anymore? not that i even no what it sounds like Cheers

To test the alarm, lock it with the fob and then unlock it with the key and open the door. I just get flashing lights. A while ago I got a "beep beep beep beep" from the horn but I've not got it to do it again and I wasn't aware it even used the horn with the siren. bloody P2.

the red button on your fob is the cars rape alarm :rotfl: think you gotta press it 5 times may worth checking the fuse for it too, but chances are the siren is fubard

If the car has stood still for a while it can run down the battery in the unit. But as above it's not good news

this one came on in the S60 a few weeks ago. Have been ignoring it up until now... looks like i'll continue to ignore it at £150 to fix.
