Just quick hello and a little history from my Volvo ownership years, been driving them for over 16 years, 740, 740 Turbo and more recently a phase one V70, the V70 isn't going to win any prizes in the speed category firstly it has the 140BHP Non Turbo engine coupled to the five speed automatic box. The car was built in March 2000 so must be one of the last phase ones, decent optional extras fitted from new but I have added to the car in the four and half years I have owned it.
I will let the pictures do the talking from here on in:
When I first got it
Front end with projectors fitted
Rear Lights, although the rear reflectors in these failed the MoT earlier this year due to fading so I have had to fit some extra red reflectors to the rear of the car
Thor 17" Alloys, bargain of the year, £72 for e-bay for all four including tyres, cost me more in fuel to go and pick them up!
AND
Optima Red Top Battery adapter leads, Volvo leads don't fit the Optima due to the terminal posts being too far from the edge of the battery, simple little work around:
TopCat Splitter fitted
Multi chip LEDs for the rear lights, 112 LEDs per "bulb"
In the dark the reverse lights are similar to headlights on the rear of the car
I got a little bored in the evenings last year so decided to use the dremel to add a bit of "bling" for the engine
Engine bay with it fitted
In went a set of 850R leather/ Alcantara seats, wooden auto selector and wooden steering wheel
Freeview TV receiver and iO-Play_2 bluetooth kit installed
High brightness LED set for the DIM from IPD
Most recent addition to the car is the rear spoiler with integral high level brake light which is quite a rare part on the phase one V70
Some of the low points with this car, the electronic throttle motor packed up and needed repairing, the engine blew up at 155K having put quite some time and money in to the car I located a low(ish) mileage N/A engine out of an S80 and had that fitted, £500 fitted, it now does over 42MPG on a decent run if you stick around 60MPH - Mike

It took about 80 hours in total, five hours per week when the MIL comes around, great way of escape....... The picture with the manifold off the car was only about half finished when that picture was taken, first step is to grit blast a secondhand manifold then use a flap wheel in the angle grinder to remove the casting flashings, after that comes hours of work with various grades of wet-n-dry before metal polish, look far better than the standard light grey oxidised lump you normally see attached to the front of the engine when you pop the bonnet but it is a heck of a lot of work.

The wiring diagrams I am used to working with are for products capable of Mach 2 so car electrics are something that kind of comes naturally, having been in the same industry for 32 years and 23 of those have been in the field of electrical design. I am more than happy to help out with electrical questions or if people want explanations as to how a circuit works, troubleshoot electrical "gremlins" or work around failures that can be costly to fix using replacement OEM parts - Mike

I know how you feel... Took mine on my 850 quite a few days at work during breaks just to prepare for powder coating.. And I used a grinder to take off the cast mark.

In daylight with the dash lit it is obvious it is lit unlike the stock illumination, in the dark I tend to dim it down as it is a little too bright!
The Dash lights on the car are illuminated all the time irrespective of the position of the master headlight switch which has also been altered to only give side lights at position "0" that go off when you take the key out, this saves burning the HIDs out during the day, I still have the option for headlights in the day by turning the switch to the 12 o'clock position - MIke

Nice v70. I quite like the Thor wheels on a ph1.
You've certainly spent plenty of man hours on the car & it shows. Cracking example & nice choice of mods especially the spoiler & led bulbs. I could do with some reverse lights like that myself! Lol
I saw pics of the car on volvo tuning & asked about it.

The ones fitted to the rear lights are from e-bay although they are longer than standard bulbs so probably won't fit OEM rear lights, the dash lighting LEDs came from IPD in the USA - Mike

Quite liking the look of those dash bulbs, no drilling or any other use of power tools.....might give it a bash, what could possibly go wrong lol
