Took the plunge and invested in my own polisher yesterday. That way could take my time instead of rushing it and giving it back lol.
Meguiars G220 version two.
Cars were relatively clean to start with, so just used some detailer to get rid of dust etc. Paintwork was pretty smooth on both so just started with the polisher using a cutting pad and ultimate compound by Meguiars. Used the polisher at a high spped setting and kept going over till the cutting compound changed into a sheen. This stuff did a great job, but a couple of deeper marks on the Audi tailgate were not coming out. These were caused where the dog jumps out of the boot. So I used some Poorboys heavy duty cutting paste and this did the job a treat. After wiping down, the paint work was smooth as glass on both cars. On the M i went straight to using Autoglym super resin polish with a polishing pad on the polisher and went over at a slower speed setting. With the Audi, being dark, I used Poorboys black hole. Wiped both cars down and then waxed both by hand using Meguiars ultimate wax paste. Th Audis transformation stands out more what with being a darker car, no swirl marks now and the metallic really pops out at you now. We've had the Audi since it was two years old now so that's 4 years and in that time this is only the second attempt at it with a polisher and I'm really happy with the results. It was getting dark but I've bought some G303 aerospace for the plastics and under the bonnet, but thats a job for the weekend now. Pics to follow. I started this job last night and the rest this afternoon so in total took me 8 hours non stop, so not to bad.
