Today i started my shift at 8.00 am card inserted all good, done vehicle check and drove vehicle to the workshop for maintenance, dropped vehicle off at 8.50 am and ejected card on crossed hammers, So i did not drive a vehicle fitted with a digi tacho unit for the rest of the day, my shift ends at 15.50 where i got access to a vehicle fitted with a digi unit fitted, so i entered my card and done a manual entery for other-work til my shift ends, i am now thinking, should i have entered breaks into this even though i was not driving? We run our trucks out of scope if this makes any difference.

Yes because you still come under the WTD (Working Time Directive).

when your digi card gets downloaded its going to show you having worked from 08.00 to 15.50 with no breaks. even if you did a manual tacho to show breaks the digi will overright it on the software you use. to answer your question yes always enter in breaks.
