19's What Colour??????

Post 628751 by iancho on 2013-07-24 22:19:05

I'm finding it incredibly difficult to find a colour I like for the 19's... I think they deserve to look that little bit special as they are so unusual.... I could do with your input guys as I am struggling to find anything I like. To give you an idea I like JT's in his Sig pic and also TC's old Silver V70 or 855 I cannot remember which model it was... The Body shop guy has literally thousands of colours to choose from in his books so if by some sheer stroke of luck you had a paint code aswell. To give you an idea I don't want anything to Dark... as you can see from the pic's below... Please feel free to put pic's of your own cars up to give me ideas... All suggestions will be great fully received either positive or negative! I prefer this brighter look.... but it's not Bright enough I want a more Silver/Metal colour Image Cannot get used to this Darker look and know I won't be happy unless it's Brighter.... Image

Shadow chrome with silver metallic, just had mine done and they are fab :) Image

Post 628754 by no1tosh on 2013-07-24 22:26:56

i would go for a high, coarse metallic silver, maybe a dark silver. i can picture the colour, just can't remember the colour code lol. ill have a look in the colour books at work tommoz for you.

Sounds great Matt... if you could mate please

Post 628758 by t5 pete on 2013-07-24 22:30:53

I had dark wheels on my v70r but never liked them I wished I went for a lighter colour imho ide go some where inbetween the two pics you have put up maybe a little lighter but not too light Image

Post 628759 by iancho on 2013-07-24 22:32:12

They look really nice Neal, thankyou matey

Post 628760 by iancho on 2013-07-24 22:33:14

Your right Pete... that's where I want to be somewhere inbetween

Post 628762 by no1tosh on 2013-07-24 22:33:36

ohhh ya now they look good neal, if i had a saffy i would be having a gun metal like pete. just re- read your post, you want brighter? i would still go for a high, coarse metallic to give them some sparkle. your gonna want a silver that has quite a lot of transparant white in it, to brighten it up.

Post 628764 by iancho on 2013-07-24 22:36:28

Hmmm... Thanks for that Matt

Post 628773 by iancho on 2013-07-24 22:49:56

Why didn't any of us think of that Steve? :P

Post 628776 by AndysR on 2013-07-24 23:00:42

Saffy's look good with the anthracite finish, gives the car a purposeful mean look. imho the silver looks too mainstream and normal...

Can't you see silver doesn't suit your car? Go black you'll never go back lol

Post 628941 by Biff on 2013-07-25 19:57:22

I'd keep it dark. I was behind a 13 reg small Citroen van with windows (you know what I mean lol) & it was a really lovely metallic grey. It was very deep paint that would still be dark but add a bit of bling.. Carbon dipped wheels are gash, trim bits you can get away with but wheels are a big no I think.

Post 628969 by Tomcat on 2013-07-25 20:36:31

I'd say dark car, light wheels, light car, dark wheels..Having dark wheels on a dark car usually makes the wheels look lost.
Yes it is. Ian sorry mate but im with the dark crowd, but if you do go silver make it bright :)
Cheers Jim, I know you all think they should be Dark but I think it just makes the car look Gloomy and Boring... Plus the fact that I cannot get used to the Darker look. I was going for a kind of Bright Chrome look until I think it was a guy called POD put some pic's up of his Saffy the other day with Bright wheels, although I liked them I thought that's just too much for the 19's. So I changed my mind again!

Post 631293 by no1tosh on 2013-07-31 21:04:06

ive been beaten to it, i was gonna suggest black with a bit of gold pearl/mica in it, and if you chuck a touch of copper pearl/mica in it should send it a little more orange rather than yellow. i did see a really nice grey on a mk1 v40 this morning. it looked like a light gun metal grey.

Well.... They were finally done today, some of you will like and some not! Platinum Silver.... The car will be ready on Friday, it's been 3 weeks and I now have severe withdrawl symptoms :) Image Image Image We shall see what they look like on the car as the light is quite bright in the paint shop.

Post 635119 by V70 Graham on 2013-08-13 18:59:37

I personally like silver wheels and think they will look good, I'm sure some people will point out the black mirrors/lights on your car and maybe say you should have gone darker. At the end of the day, if your happy thats all that matters mate. Looking forward to seeing the car at TRAX.

if you do find them to bright theres nothing to stop you getting a dark pearl put in some lacquer to give them a darker effect http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/25g-Black-pearl-pigment-powder-paint-Nailart-resin-Airbrush-/160795022930?pt=AU_Art_Supplies&hash=item2570215652

Plus I have the added bonus of driving steady for the first time EVER as I'm looking out for holes and defects in the road to protect the 19's... Which is a new experience for me and quite a pleasant one at that. :)
