Nice work there Steve. I found it dried a bit too quickly when I had a play with that stuff. Looks like it went really well.

Looking good, I'm pleased with it on my mudguards and fog light trim, not 100% on the roof rails though, maybe not as good on very smooth surfaces.

Your right Martin, it does dry very quickly and it's important to apply it evenly.
I'm not the most patient of people when it comes to detailing and really I should have masked the trims so I could get the stuff right to the trim edges where it meets the panels, I didn't bother so there are one or two places where I need to go over again. It's quite important to remove any dye that gets onto the paintwork as it's probably nigh on impossible to remove once it's dry.......I'll mask off in future :)

It works really well on the textured trims, I can imagine Graham that it's more difficult to get an even finish on the smooth roof rails.

looks realy good. i used black shoe dye on mine and its realy good. still hasnt faded afer 4 month and was only a quid. i have to asl why the R badge.

To be honest, I've been thinking about colour coding the door strips and upper bumper trims BUT I thought I'd give the Wurth product a try first. Now that the trims are a nice dark colour again, they suit the car well and probably won't bother painting the strips.
I've gotta stop spending money on the D5 too.....I keep thinking why not call it a day and buy Graeme's T5 where all the mods and $£$£ spent actually 'mean' something. But then I love the 48mpg... :(

Over in 205 GTI world we use a product called Plasticare that's been around for about 5 years I guess. I should imagine it's pretty much the same as this Wurth product, but Plasticare is only £11 on eBay. I've got half a bottle left over that I'll be trying on my V70 at some time soon.
Might be worth bearing in mind considering the price difference between the 2 products. Mind you, there's always the other array of options like heating the trims, using peanut butter, shoe polish, etc etc. At least a proper dye like the Wurth (I guess) and Plasticare are reasonably permanent solutions, or at least they have great longetivity (I know Plasticare does).

205's do suffer from some serious faded bumper issues so if Plasticare gets their thumbs up it must be good. Just found some before/after pics from 205gtidrivers:

I just use the stuff left on the sponge after treating my tyres. Anybody who's seen my car will vouch for how good the trims look. And it seems to be lasting longer the more I do it too.
I used to use cheap Aldi boot polish but it's too much effort after spending 4 hours polishing the rest of the car :D

Will post before and after when I do it.
I think I will remove the panel to give it a very good clean as reading up on it a number of people have said it can look patchy if not 100% degreased / remove any old coatings first,as it won't come off once it applied.
I will also do the plastic covers on the wiper arms,windscreen & headlights, wing mirrors.

It's worth getting some panel wipe/isopropyl alcohol to go over any trim before treating it with any of these products, so you can get rid of grease and silicone from previous products. Not expensive, and a big bottle will last ages if you are a mere hobbyist rather than a using it for the bodywork trade.

Thanks for info ,we use panel wipe at work :smile:
The product drys quite quickly leaving a matt, non greasy finish, it's really easy to apply & I'm quite happy with the results:
