Just thought I'd start a thread as I know a few VPC members will be attending this on Sunday, to be held at : The Royal Armouries Museum of Artillery, Fort Nelson, Portsdown Hill Road, Fareham, Hampshire, PO17 6AN. From 1000 till 1700. Entry to the museum is free, though to enter the BKV competition you need to be a paid up member of VOC. Believe it or not I won't know if I can get the day off till this Thursday :frown: maybe Anne will have to take her own car !

Update, You can park in the field next to the fort, just follow the orange signs :)

So who else is gonna come? You don't have to be a VOC member to turn up. The actual BKV competition is for VOC members only but it's still a good day out.

Post 608051 by V70 Graham on 2013-05-19 19:28:26

Well it rained, but we all had a great time today down at the VOC Southern BKV. Stribo, Relfski, Sharkey R and myself arrived nice and early and parked up in a good spot, the cars were looking good after we'd all been on our hands and knees polishing and cleaning them, sore back tomorrow no doubt ! Finally met up with David (doorman) and his mint (am I allowed to say mint ?) V70 R AWD and I must say he is a true gentleman, taking time out to chat to us all and let me get my sticky fingers all over his car. Congratulations to Sharkey R who won 'Best S60' and Relfski who came runner up in the same class. The 850/C S V 70 class was by far the biggest, and up against doorman and another 20 cars I didn't hold out any hope of a prize, but we were very pleased to win a 'Highly Commended' award for Anne's (and mine) V70 Also Anne managed to win a Sat Nav in the raffle too :B_thumb: Now for the piccy's..... Well done Graham! We are all Pleased for you at VPC... You showed them how we do it here.... Doorman's car is stunning but you managed to hold your own mate. Some great pics esp the "Face Off" very amusing :B_thumb: Congrats to Steve and Reflski two beautiful motors... You did it again Steve well done mate

Post 608102 by JUDGENINJA on 2013-05-19 20:12:30

So BKV... Interesting cars in attendance. It really was chalk and cheese. Some very highly polished and looked after cars like the VPC group and others, but there were some proper sheds too.... I wondered if I took my V40 bonnet on its own might have stood a chance against the other three V40's if which none that bothered to even try to clean the crud off their wheels... What heartened me was that more than 50% of the group that assemble as VPC came home with awards, showing that we aren't just CHAV's (we'll OK some of us are!!) and we do look after things(& again some of us don't)... Only complaint of the day.... A group for the S60R model, then a group for 850 right through to V70 phase 2. Odd, very odd!! Anyone know what group the V70R was in?

Post 608103 by stribo on 2013-05-19 20:13:23

Had a great, if a little wet, day. Very happy with the R get runner's up prize, there's no way it could beat Steve's, as he has far too much spare time ;) and it's immaculate. TBH the C70 never stood a chance being in with the likes of Doorman's, Nobber72's (not Graham's, he has a VAG) and Villan's cars to name a few, but that's not what my car's about really, and it's still very much work in progress. Unfortunately because of the weather, I didn't get to take many pics: Image Image Image Image Image Graham cleaning his wife's car: Image My favourite pic (but I'm biased) Image Turn out was good, there were about 50 cars there.

Post 608124 by Sharkey R on 2013-05-19 20:26:03

Had a fantastic day out, weather was a little iffy, although in a way when it did rain it helped show off everyone's hard work in the waxing department. Some stunning cars there, Doorman and Graham's cars looked stunning when parked face to face. Thrilled to get the Best in Class and also thrilled for Rachel to get Runner-up. Absolutely gutted that Stribos car is placed in the same class as 1/2 the cars that attended. I don't agree with a C70 being in the same class as estates and saloons but as he said its a work in progress and hopefully soon enough it'll hold it's own against the rest. Really pleased that Graham got a Highly Commended for Anne's car she thoroughly deserved it :-p and of course congratulations to Doorman for Best in Class. Totally deserved (sorry Graham). Bring on the National BKV next month :) And thank you everyone for the nice comments. Frankie I think you need to have a look at Harvey's S60R because his is truly stunning but thanks for the nice words mate.

Lol.... she is a talented lady! I must say I have really enjoyed this thread, seeing our VPC boys do so well.... Makes you Proud to be a member of a very tight and friendly community.... Like Doorman said I think there was one comment on VOC but here we all stick together and support each other... we are the BEST web site if you ask me.

Couldn't agree more Ian. There was no interest on the VOC forum at all about the day. It's sad really when so many people put so much effort in.

We could always post a link on VOC? Forums only as good as the posters...

The majority of VOC Members aren't on the forums and get their information through the clubs magazine "Driver". You'll notice how many people turned up even with so few posts on that thread! I was glad to see you guys made it along, and congratulations to those who got prizes! I hope to see a few of you at the National in a few weeks! James

I suppose we'll just have to wait a couple of months for the next edition of 'Driver' Just to let you know, (as we are in the same class) judging for your car will be on December 15th not June 16th :hilarious (recon he'll fall for it ? :shhh:)

Aye, I still need to go through mine and upload them, I didn't really take many this time though. I'll make sure I'm there early for my own personal judging session ... a few months! It might coincide with the day everyone else is there, but we shall see! I'll also check to make sure you've got your VOC Membership card with you at the National ;) James

Some nice cars there and graham your cars paintwork does have an amazing depth to it, very rare you see a reflection as good as that.

Just spotted this on VOC, nice to get the recognition (we deserve) Again thanks for those who made the effort to come and the numerous poeple who made the day a success:- good show by]the performance guys, helpers and judges most importantly the members for coming. John Smith A special thanks to all you guys for making me feel so welcome, I'm aware of the age differential yet there seemed to be no barrier, just like minded people, without the normal YAWN brigade if you get my drift. Got a couple of fuel saving discount's if you guys want to save a few bob, https://www.bespokeoffers.co.uk/consumer/offers/save-5p-per-litre-off-any-fuel-at-shell--fdf9d http://www.mightydeals.co.uk/deals/national/Home-Garden/Shell-Drivers-Club-Loyalty-Card-/6955?affiliateid=405&campaign=EM1785A Thanks again lads, here's to the next time.
I don't think Graham is going to be very impressed by that comparison :argue:
As you well know Dave, as our cars are faultless, 'young' stribo has to direct his attention elsewhere. But seriously, it was, as others have said, a pleasure to meet you on Sunday, hopefully you could find time one month to join us at our 'Southern Softies' meet in Ower, Romsey http://www.fayre-square.com/pub/vine-inn-ower-romsey/p1235/

Age?? What's that when it's at home?? Age counts for nothing when your passion is stunning cars. We all share the same passion. Age doesn't even come into it. 18-80 or 95 in Graham's Case ;-p we are all the same!
