When fitting N/A cams in a T5 is a case of just of lining up the timing marks or is it more involved ?
When fitting N/A cams in a T5 is a case of just of lining up the timing marks or is it more involved ?
is there some gain to be had with n/a cams and would that be inlet, exhaust or both
Mainly inlet gains bit can fit both a few people have fitted th and found them good I did think about it but thats as far as I got
The only difference between the N/A cams and the T5 cams is the N/A cams opens the valve by 8.45mm and the T5 opens the valve by 7.95mm. As the N/A cams open the valve by 0.5mm more does this effect setting up the cam timing ?

Or youll loose power. Each cam has to be advanced and retarded to see gains. The advice i got was to get it 100% perfect or dont bother so i tried and think i did. I bought a cam timing tool from ipd usa £50 and thats got full instructions with it. But unless youre going for 400ish bhp i personaly cant see the point money and time for nothing. Rip kit and the Volvo 960 3" throttle body 18/19t exhaust + dp + rods with good map you WILL see around 320-340bhp.
The project engine I`m building will be have forged rods, K24, RIP kit, 3" throttle body and custom map.
Well nice build if your planning close to 400bhp go for it and get the ipd tool off there website iv lost mine.

U probly could use vernier pulley degree tool but recomend ipd tool
how many degrees advance or retard does each one need then, to set this up spot on and can this be achived easily with an offset keys or vernier pulleys ?
theirs 15degrees adjustment available on the standard pulleys
theirs 15degrees adjustment available on the standard pulleys
well thats handy to know and will save extra expense, when I get round to building up a new motor for the T5-R, just in the planning stages a present
