Just a question out of interest.
I been talking to a mate yesterday and somehow we came to chat about cb radios.
I can remember having them in some vehicles, years back.
Including in lorries. was great fun.
Convoy driving , charting away, meeting up, etc.
Are anyone on here still use them or have them in there cars ?
Still have one in the loft, hardly used as it was bought for a lorry but stoppt driving hgv shortly after.

I have a set at work just to speak to machine operators across the quarry.
We used to have 2 way radios but too many were squashed after removing the cab guards and forgetting the radio was on the tracks!
So CB was and is still the most reliable way to communicate across 2-300 acres of quarry.
Tony.

Used to pop on the old CB years ago, my interest was really in the setups, all the different aerials and radios, had a couple of Midland mobile units and a very old Mustang, my newest one is a Cobra (forget the model) with the SSB mod.

Citizens Band radio is licence free now too, OFCOM deregulated it in 2006 apparantly.... :B_thumb:

Only thing I can think of,Where group communications are important.
Or who had the biggest aerial on the side of your house.

Its a grey area, but no-one has be prosecuted for used a cb while driving, the police themselves used a 2 way radio, therefore they cannot ban this activity.

Using a cb radio is not illegal as written in the book of law.
Using a mobile phone while driving is.
And it was great fun years back.
People just got too attached to using mobiles now.
Is easier but not to meet people or driving in convoy.
The world gone private and people don't see the fun anymore in just driving around with others for the sake of it.
I did on weekends 150 plus miles just driving around and ending up miles away with another 5 or 6 cars.
And nobody regret it as it was always fun.
Today, everybody see the petrol price is worried and rather talking or arguing on the mobiles.
