Just wanted to thank you all for your help over the past 8 months or so. I sold the AWD on Friday, was a bit sad to see it go, but with my back now sorted, and as I'm now able to drive a manual car again, Ive decided to go back to the now classic 80 quattro and finish what I started a few years ago....so plan is to put a 340bhp RS2 specd engine in this

its as lite as a feather and with quattro I shouldn't have a problem getting the power down.

This has got to be the shortest goodbye ever lol
Last week I sold the AWD, this was on the basis that there was the small issue of a turbod 5 cylinder 20v engine that had been on offer plus I wanted to finish the 80quattro off as it's been on the drive for the best part of three years.
However, if I'm being honest my back has suffered a bit since driving the 80 again - its manual which is a pain in traffic, and the seats in the 26 year old audi cannot be compared to the amazing seats in the volvo, which must be the most comfortable seats to be put into any car period! I had been in denial mode about my back as I desperately wanted to keep the 80 cos it sort of made me think that the back operation had worked (hope this is making sense)....then the missus starts to spot that my posture isn't right etc (she hates the quattro btw - to old, to noisy, old fashioned etc etc ) so the writing was starting to appear on the wall for the 80q lol
Then I had the pleasure of meeting Phil, and when I saw his silver R and how enthusiastic he was about it I thought, wow, what a car. Then when my silver AWD was driven away last week, I had that sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach, it looked good being driven away - §§§§§§ I thought have I done the right thing......well obviously not, as over the following week my back got worse to the point where I was worrying about it all the time, and I was finding myself searching the web for V70s....but I still didnt want to admit this to the wife lol
Then earlier this week a mate told me about this volvo that was for sale locally. The volvo was giving my mates chipped s4 (2.7biturbo mrc 320bhp ) a good going over in the dry, so I phoned the seller up and, well, to cut a long story short I've put a deposit down on a V70R auto, 1997 reg and should be picking it up this saturday. It needs very little doing to it, is my fav colour (black) and has proven (dyno) 265bhp, so should be no slouch.
For the first time in a very long time I'm very excited - I knew as soon as I hit this site last year that either a T5 or R was going to be my destiny - so despite the annoying back issue, silver lining time - it led me to here and back to Volvo, and now from an AWD XT to a FWD R- in black with all the toys to boot. This is a big thing for me as Ive been a life long devote of the 4 rings, but I dont like the modern Audi stuff and feel that the Volvo is a better car if totally honest.....wow there you go I said it....volvos are better than audis lol pmsl
I was conned with the AWD, as some of you may recall, it was advertised as having a big turbo, in essence back then I thought I was buying a T5 with AWD.....feel such a §§§§ over it now lol . It was a great car to own on many fronts, great traction, reliable and safe....but with that low pressure turbo and beige interior it didnt get my petrol juices flowing. Anyway rambling on again, just so excited to be 3 days away from having my own V70R on the drive....clay bar and polish at the ready lol
One thing I need to do this time is get a vpcuk badge for the rear....I believe it makes them go a lot faster lol
Also, its about time I made the effort to meet with you all, I was gutted not to get involved last year in the Evo run, so fingers crossed will be joining you in the new steed in the very near future.

Well chaps....what a weeks its been.
First of all, the grim reaper turned out to be my guardian angel. The guy deserves a medal and just goes to show its not what you know but who you know. Phil I take my hat off to you mate, owe you big time.
Secondly, the force let me down and after complaining to OB1 Ive concluded that its total crrap lol reflecting on my last post.....whe I might add I was on a massive high.....the the only clay bar that could sort this fcn black lemon out would be one made of semtex.....boom!!!!
So, my hunt for a FWD V70r Auto now starts proper....the sooner the better as my back is not coping with the older Audi.....will check here first before I buy...lesson learnt lol

In time it would have needed a replacement tailgate, a rear door, a breather hose under the manifold, new disks and pads, respray down drivers side, new front tyres, refurbed alloys, proper rear springs,proper ECU remap and some other pipework sorted around the engine.....which I was OK with to be honest as I thought it was all dooable....but some stuff that was said to me by the owner didnt quite stack up, and a phone call to one of the previous volvo garages that serviced it once upon a time confirmed my doubts.....should have trusted my instincts, but I was so chuffed to be in the position to buy a black auto r i lost my head a bit.....the only tool I'd put to it now is a grinder lol

this is the side that isn't pictured in the advert....you can just about se it in the dark (crap photo) but is has scratches down one side, they are deep enough to catch your nail so not a simple job that G3 can sort out.
