I have to get a bit of service done to release the monster power from my car before the RR day on the 16th lol I was gonna go for the genuine but they are not cheap so looking for a cheap alternative.Only need them to do a good job for a few K miles till I cash up for genuine plugs..It is for P1 V70R.I`ve done a lot of googling and some say Bosch FR7DC+ do a good job for about 10k and very cheap.Any experience with them or other affordable ones?
False economy in my opinion....bite the bullet and get the correct ones you know it makes sense....you cant do performance on a budget!:rolleyes: Tony.

They used to be made by NGK but i think the Chinese ownership changed that! OK, so you can fit whatever £30/ £45 plugs by others but when you get a misfiring problem you will end up buying the pucker Volvo ones for about £25/ £28 ......Fit the correct Volvo plug in the first place it is stress free motoring! I am sure Volvo is more correct than us home mechanics, and no there isn`t a little man in the back room at the dealers with a little blue stamp putting it on the plugs.
NGK BKR7EVX is a very good plug for the T5. I only swapped up to the Iridium 8s because the extra power was running them a bit too hot.
in my experience the ones to avoid are the ones with the wrong number of electrodes on. if you have a non turbo and fit the 2 electrode aftermarket plugs instead of the original 3's thats when you will get issues particularly. THE BKR7EVX Dave quoted is the one we use as well, but since we got a better price on the genuine ones we dont really sell many now.

I am new to Volvo's, well I have had my C70 T5 for just a year now. I am going to service it shortly with plugs filter oil etc I have read a lot about spark plugs and the problems they may cause, I am very surprised that you can only run Volvo plugs!, I am not suggesting this is not the case as clearly the people on this forum are far more knowledgeable than I am about Volvo's! I will probably use genuine Volvo plugs when I do mine just because of all the horror stories I have read on here about engine misfires etc I would be interested to hear if anyone is running different plugs in a T5 and what the results have been though?
Its not worth messing about with ive used volvo plugs for years now with no problems what so ever i did once use some ngk plugs but they didnt last long before breaking down on boost
I run NGK Iridium 8s because the more power you push - generally the hotter the cylinder/combustion temps get. Harsher conditions require a good plug.
I`ll look whats in it 1st and probably just save up for a genuine set as won`t be running over 300bhp on an auto anyway,lucky if I manage 280-290 for which a genuine set is more than enough.
