No, you'd need a lot more mods. Rods not essential but would be wise, ported flowed head, bigger throttle body, decent downpipe and cat back, inter cooler, water injection, and VERY good remap. And your §§§§ing in the wind unless you fit a decent diff! And an far gauge and boost gauge is the bare minimum in terms of monitoring in my opinion. You'd also need an 850r clutch minimum.

You're best option in my opinion would be Tim Williams and Ben lewis on t5d5. They've had some superb results with 850's running various different set ups.

if i was to get a new turbo id go doen the smae route as wobblydave.

Post 564118 by Wobbly Dave on 2013-01-19 22:33:24

If do be careful which turbine housing you use. The choice of T3 stamp is limited.

im kind of tempted to go down the same route my self. im sure my oil seals have gone west, havnt looked into costs yet, but bet it would be a right beast.
im kind of tempted to go down the same route my self. im sure my oil seals have gone west, havnt looked into costs yet, but bet it would be a right beast.
Just to build the engine alone will be £1300 and thats doing it your self then add another £1300 for turbo and lines at a rough geuss to get where wobbly is now and doing the work your self will be £3000 then you would be able to fabricate your own pipe work for exhaust so that would be just at cost after that there's the mapping so if we say 4k would be a good number, as always tho 4k will turn into 5-6k

But I spent extra on converting to metal bearing races. My forged internals were £1K. There were also unforeseen costs on engineering the s60r manifold. I don't know what advantage the k24 has over the 19T.

To give you a clue on how much it can mount up, I reckon I've spent £15,000+ on mine, and its not even mapped yet!

It all depends what turbo you fit depending on the price for the mods will cost you .i would say 1500 for engine rebuild with rods and pistons and say average 650 for turbo unless you go ball bearing of course .mod downpipe and that also depends on what turbo you use too.but I would say 200 max and Vxr injectors will run most turbos say 150 and fuel pump say 100 and then remap .i would say 3k will give you a dam fast motor

Post 564321 by Jamest5r on 2013-01-20 14:58:52

Rough cost of what ive paid lol, Rods/pistons/rings £1000 Rebore + Rebuild £500 Belts/gaskets/oil etc £200 Turbo £400 THS i/c £200 Pipework £150 TT Ecu £450 M59 £200 Clutch £150 So over 3k for the major stuff and i waited a long time for bits to come up cheap lol, add another 1500 quid to it if the turbo/clutch were new.

Post 564445 by Wobbly Dave on 2013-01-20 21:07:17

My rough costs were 350 for the donor engine (a cost that can be avoided if you are happy to take the car off the road). this may sound a lot but it came with a new water pump & new cambelt. 500 forged rods 500 forged pistons 1300 (all in) for engine rebuilt inc. all gaskets including complete refurb of the cylinder head, rebore. 1600 for the garrett GTX3071R turbo 150 Tial recirc BOV 250 for new clutch plate 300 for various new ancillaries (heater hoses), turbo lines There are more costs to come. DP fabrication is not yet complete - and probably a few other bits I've forgotten.

Post 564460 by LiamT4 on 2013-01-20 21:45:25

Now you all are making the supercharger kit look a bargain.

Post 564466 by t5 pete on 2013-01-20 21:51:37

lol i think so far for me £350 rods £600 pistons £200 head gasket kit and other oil seals with new belts and just getting ready to take to machine shop which will be for rebore and then i may has well have the head overhaulled as it was smoking due to the valve stem seals so will ask for a clean up and re grind and depending on condition of valves i may need some more so that will add to the cost quite abit. Oh also forgot to add i may need new shells aswell So my original quote of 1300 for a full rebiuld is way off more like £1600+

for me ive built a 100 cell sports car and 2.5" straight through exhaust. and a hlm autotech remap. 328 bhp. cost under £600. i do fancy fitting a bigger turbo though.

Post 564484 by claymore on 2013-01-20 22:12:36

So I was lucky to pick up AlanM's engine which has had everything done to it for £500 (which sponsors paid for) then £150 for the gearbox and clutch £200 for the turbo. All the other odds and ends to get to this stage probably comes to about £400, and £275 for the TTusb ecu. so less than a grand.

Post 564510 by graemewelch on 2013-01-20 22:57:29

when is enough, enough. i keep saying to my self im happy with what ive got then the other side of me says. i want to fit a turbo like wobblydave and aim for 400bhp and a hell of a lot of torque. for me its like a chalange to myself to say ive done it. im sure that makes sense i hope. i rarley drive my car hard but its nice to know its there.
