Hi all, a couple of headlight conundrums with mine, do I have a freakmobile or does yours do this as well.
I cannot turn the headlights off when engine running, it's like daytime running lights all the time. Om my old V40 you could turn the switch to off and they went off but this new one 04 plate doesn't??? Is there a hidden switch to turn the daylight running lights off like my old C70??
Also every time I turn the ignition on the headlights come on but on full beam and I have to cancel them back to dip beam. Next step I think is to change the main beam switch and see if this cures it. Does anyone else's do this or is mine possessed lol

The lights won't turn off when the engine is running because the dipsticks in Sweden forgot that in the UK we actually have daylight in the winter. Apparantly the only way to get them to turn off is to go to a Main Stealer for a 'software update'.....
Regards
James

Somebody with Dice/Vida should be able to do something.
Alternatively, use a hammer ;)

dont know why your main beam is coming on but your lights on all the time is normal. Aswell as it being darker in Sweden its also a safety feature they are an early DRL feature as opposed to these later cars that have those tacky LED ones half way up (DS2's for example).. and i cant see why people want to turn them off? even in bright daylight they have been proven to be seen quicker than a car with its lights off thats why they are now introducing DRL's into new cars (correct me if im wrong though ;)).. It always make me laugh when people show off their auto headlights and DRL's.. please we've had them on for years ;)

I have a 2004 V40 and there is an easy way to turn off the daytime running lights.
It was in the owner's manual if I remember.
