Also that accent is disgusting. :-P mate

LOL, Volvo guy looks like he's cruising with his arm on the door. These days there's lots of quick cars, usually I don't care as long as they stay out of my way.

Post 542778 by T5frankie on 2012-10-19 14:28:06

the power to weight ratio would be about the same, looks like he had the run on him off the roundabout if he kept going the t5 would have pulled back easily

Post 542779 by Kingsford G on 2012-10-19 14:55:51

The power to the weight poss but the torque is more on t5 and doesn`t look like he was flooring it anyway. My saffy wasn`t the fastest on here but to Hull and back the longest journey I took it for no 1 matched it off roundabout normally just kept 70 on a cruise.

i have raced a 306 gti-6 in a standard v70 t5 auto and he was just about keeping up with me

Post 542781 by Dangerous Dave on 2012-10-19 15:00:43

And at the end of the day, it was a POS Peugeot
i have raced a 306 gti-6 in a standard v70 t5 auto and he was just about keeping up with me
i got to race in one around Silverstone, felt slower than the 480 i had at the time
i have raced a 306 gti-6 in a standard v70 t5 auto and he was just about keeping up with me
In what way kept up with you? as quick as you or you pulling away slowly.
i got to race in one around Silverstone, felt slower than the 480 i had at the time
Was your 480 modded or was there something wrong with the pug. Should have been quicker than any of the 480s.

Post 542797 by M-R-P on 2012-10-19 17:13:56

From personal experience, I'd say the volvo wasn't in 2nd when it came off the roundabout so wouldn't have been on boost. I've had lots of run-ins with the bournemouth PUG club and not one of them has touched my heavy old buss when it came to a head to head. I do love my 2nd gear :D

Post 542798 by p fandango on 2012-10-19 17:22:27
Was your 480 modded or was there something wrong with the pug. Should have been quicker than any of the 480s.
480 just had a panel filter. 306 was Silverstones own, so thrashed but well maintained i've of said. Pug felt gutless

Defo quicker than what people think! Mate has a 205 with a Gti-6 engine with a few mods. Still couldn't keep up and I had a car full to the roof with camping gear and 3 up. Great little cars though. It is what it is, you can't compare it to bigger engines. Like comparing a T5 to a Veyron.

me, i've been beaten by a pug recently he just got the better of me..... and with baby no.2 imminent i just got no choice but to put him back under cover again :D Image

ive played with a few pugs in the past but they was always a spec in my rear view mirror up to 70 mph .but i will say that the bx 16v had the mi16 engine and they was fast and looked good too in the day .that t5 was not trying you could tell that
do you not think it was the mi16 that had the bx 16valve engine?
I know I'm a bit, well, squiffy. But I can't work out what you just said. Mi16 is the engine, not the car (I tried explaining this to brothers landlord who still insists he has a Gti-6 engine, not an Mi16. The 6 is the gearbox ffs, gti means §§§§§§§§) The later iron blocks are §§§§e... I know this after owning a 2.0 Citroen ZX 16v, and it was sloooooow. The alloy 1.9 was so much revvier (is that even a word?)

Post 542903 by smithy on 2012-10-20 19:14:54

It was the bx 16v that had a mi16 engine and so did the 405 too.but the 405 version was pants compared to the bx due to the weight of the car

Post 542932 by LiamT4 on 2012-10-20 20:07:12

XU9......(mi16), XU10......(mi16) Think they have there engine designations something like that. The 9 being the 1905cc and the 10 being the larger engine (1995cc?), possibly. or XUJ9......etc

Post 542935 by T5frankie on 2012-10-20 20:12:36

so it was the xu9 engine you numpties not an mi16 engine the bloody model was the mi16 you plebs, thanks liam
our engines are officially B5234T's, but people call them T-5's
Depends how accurate you want to be. If you rang a volve garage and asked about a t5 engine they'd ask what model and year, but if you asked them about a B5234T3 then they would know exactly what engine you were talking about.

Post 542944 by p fandango on 2012-10-20 20:34:19
if you asked them about a B5234T3 then they would know exactly what engine you were talking about.
there were 3 different variants of the B5234T3, so no they'd still be as clueless as if you'd of called it a T-5
there were 3 different variants of the B5234T3, so no they'd still be as clueless as if you'd of called it a T-5
Not quite as clueless. Bad example then, i forgot volvo like to be confusing. One engine code for cars that have different turbos, ecus, etc. Not very logical.

Post 542973 by cherry1809 on 2012-10-20 21:53:00

Didn't the early 405's have the 1.9's and the later have the 2.0? And did they have a 4x4 405 Mi16 too, or am I asleep?
Image
I'll say it again, the only 4x4 405 i know of is the t16. Which means the same as saying "i don't know about any other 405 thats 4x4, so i can't comment on that without going on google and finding out" ;-)

Post 542986 by T5frankie on 2012-10-20 22:22:29

so i'm right again lol, ive owned a bx 16v and it didnt have an mi16 engine in it had an xu9 engine which was shared with peugeots mi16 model, alot of people used bx 16v engines (xu9) for 205 conversions
