Heres a pic of my new head unit, a peach of an old school Denon DCTA100.
The difference in sound quality over the now redundant Alpine 7893r is like night and day. So much more detail and breadth. Listening to Adelle, I could here her breathing between phrases and things like cymbal sounds slowing diminishing is astounding!
These new CD/iPod/MP3 players just cannot match some old school processing.
This unit sold in its day for $1700, I picked this up for £120! and it is near perfect. Only available in Japan and the US I think about 15 years ago.

I've just messed my pants.....I remember those head units from yesteryear, and for £120 you stole it !

Not sure about the CF vinyl though.......watching the trim painting thread with interest and also, might look at brushed metal finish vinyl to match......

Join the club........I did when I first listened to it and I haven't even set it up anywhere near properly yet!
