Recirc Blank off plate

Today i decided to make up a blank off plate for the turbo... took the old one off, a bit fiddly and made a plate up in no time. loosing the bolts down the back of the block meant 3 bolts took me 2 hours! Shouting, begging and sore fingers later it was fitted. Now on the test run home, im loosing boost im guessing its the gasket i made for it.... i blocked up the control line so its not that and ive checked everything else once home. Could you guys just take a look over the picture and see where im going wrong? would be a great help! thanks in advance :) ImageImage I also fitted up a filter i had lying around to improve the noise Going to use the standard box for now, until i have the materials to make something similar to wobbly's.... a little bracket in the box will do for now, needs to run right first! i just put high temp silicone on mine and it seems fine Simon

the gasket needs to be made so that you have to bolt through it, if you understand me. how thick is your plate, if it's not thick enough it will blow out.
the gasket needs to be made so that you have to bolt through it, if you understand me. how thick is your plate, if it's not thick enough it will blow out.
Yes i was thinking that the gasket should be full sized...... the plates not very thick, but was all i had.... it did bend the 3 corners as i tightened it up but looking around the top of it the rubber is compressed. I dont have any goo to put on it, so im going to have to find some thicker plate and make a new gasket i think

you know what funny bit is not sure where it goes fully, think i got a good idea but what u do with the recirc valve? also it says on the website: (Only recommended when installing an alternative valve.) that important n whats it mean?
not gonna be as good though is it lol on the opposite side is a rubber circular seal too lol
Hmm im feeling under estimated here, this isnt exactly the hardest thing ive ever engineered
i just put high temp silicone on mine and it seems fine Simon
I take it this was a manufactured piece?

They say having turbo stall puts strain on the turbo, but ive known cars to be fine with them just blocked off for thousands of miles with no troubles, however the stall isnt such a great thing, i can feel the turbo having to spool up again. I am looking at fitting a dump valve once the plates sorted. You can get dump valves that dont make so much noise but keep you spooled up.

A dump valve is there for a reason if you take the original out you should fit another Imo
its the wastegate chatter that i love lol cant be doing with sounding like a bus lol
Its the air blowing back out past the turbo that makes the noise in this instance, but yeah does sound sweet
A dump valve is there for a reason if you take the original out you should fit another Imo
I agree there frankie, the recirculation valve was there to stop the stall.... i can feel the car doesnt really like it, however im not going to bother fitting the valve until the plates right, its not really a big problem with the way i drive it.

i just cut a 2mm plate and slid it under recirc valve...............works a treat........
i just cut a 2mm plate and slid it under recirc valve...............works a treat........
did you do this without removing the engine mount or leaning the turbo back? it was so tight just getting the plate on... dred to think what it would b like putting the valve back on lol

Driving it today with less boost was crap.
