Hi All, Been having a browse of the history that came with my car, in 2007 it had a service using 10/40, and in 2011 it had a service using 5/40 Can anyone tell me the difference, and which grade should i use if i need to do an oil change, Also, i do a good 50 mile there and back run to work using motorway / bypass, so how often should i change, and what else is it advisable to change at the same time (if anything) Thanks, Andy

I use a good 10/40 semi in mine What year is yours? As for changing the oil, I do mine at 6,000 maximum

Probably thats all they had in stock, more modern cars use 5/30, and garages tend to buy oil in bulk, so, all the cars get the same! It won''t hurt the engine

I use fully synth Shell Helix - I think it is 5w 40. Change it every 5K - but I am a bit retentive like that

I did my Megane every 6k, il stick to that i think!! With it having 5/40 in, will it need a flush before i stick some 10/40 in her?

Only flush if you are changing between semi & fully synth. However I still put a can of wynns in every time I change. It helps to loosen any old oil deposits.
