March Southern Softies Meet Ideas...

Ok, time to start thinking about the next Softies meet. I would like to see these meets become as successful as the Essex meets if I can, so I've been doing a bit of brainstorming. Now there's the easy option; go to one of the two locations used previously, the Vine attracted a respectable turnout and was a nice location for "test drives" and "Dog Hill" was a good spot for photographs. Another option would be another location. We could all throw ideas for locations in the mix and see what we settle on. Just to add something to this to make it a bit more interesting, I've been toying with the idea of some sort of Point to Point run. A timed run, stopping at various places along the way, and points added or deducted for matching a base - time for each stage. This would take some organising so, I'll put it to a poll and see what you all think. Let's make the Southern Softies Meet a BIG one this month peeps ;)

There was at least 2 850's. I was parked next to a Gul T5-R, And was another 2 over a bit I think. I'd be up for Haynes. :)

I think I can speak for Mrs PA when I say we would be up for Swede Day at Haynes :) I suppose I would have to wash Christine then?

Doing "Dog Hill" this weekend with a Ford owners club, so wouldn't be a problem to do it another weekend in the Volvo. Haynes museum sounds good.

Excuse me for butting in, but would these meets be alot more successful if they were more regional? I mean, if you say a Southern meet on the M27, well thats no where near me and i live in Kent! Gonna take 2 hours at least (if the M25 isn't parked up) and half a tank of fuel! Then another half tank driving back not to mention food for the day. By regional i mean, London meet, Kent meet, Essex meet, ie by county. Tell me to §§§§ off if you like, but just a suggestion. Obviously people that wanna come from outside those counties would of course be welcome to make the numbers up.

Well originally, it was a south coast meet (well, that was the idea) Whereby the location would move around the south coast while keeping it relatively central for those further afield. I see your point and your suggestions are welcome. In fact, it's exactly what I was hoping for. If there's enough interest and enough members in the southeast, why not have a get together there. May's meet has been decided to be the Haynes Museum Swedish day but nothing has been mentioned for june etc.

Depends where in Essex. What would be a great idea (me thinks) is to have a forum map of the UK and everyone can pin their location on that map for all to see. That way, when meets are organised, the organisor can look at the map and guage the best location for a meet in a particular place/county/town so that the turn up is likely to be greater and fairer for all concerned. What do you think Santa? A forum Map??:B_thumb:

I've seen those before.... VolvoSpeed? T5d5? Tbh, I never found it overly useful. If all 5000-odd members added their location to the map, how would you find the location of the 260 actually active members to plan for them?
