Ive had a look via the search function but could find anything about this.
My P1 70r's service light comes on when i start the car up? after ive driven for about 5-10 mins it goes off, it doesnt matter if i have been driving for two hours or fifteen mins it happens everytime. i tried the service light clear thing using the ingnition and mileometer thing on the clocks but that made no difference, its only been doing about 6 weeks, oh sometimes the tracs light is lit aswell. Are they controlled by the same ecu?.
Can anybody give me any pointers

i cant remember properly but i think you hold down the trip button on the clocks,
turn on ignition while holding button down, hold for 10 seconds and it flashes ,then release button within 4 seconds and turn off ignition and its reset.
something like that, someone else will know and correct me,been a while since i had to do one of them lol

Light comes on when the car is due a service based on time and mileage. Think the button/ignition trick only works on 850's, i have a 98 V70 T5 and have been told it won't work on that, you need a draper tool that is about £25 on ebay, model 69007 i believe, can then reset it yourself every year. Tracs light is a seperate issue

i thought the service light stayed on, when the car was due a service, so this is not the case then?

I'm pretty sure this is right. This is what I used to do on my ME7 late P1 I had and always worked for me.

Must be the electronic Me7s on then because I have found my 1998 2.5LPT P1 Will not reset as P2s, you need the draper tool model 69007 you can find it on the draper web site
http://www.drapertools.com/b2c/b2cbrowse.pgm
I bought mine last week followed the clear instruction's done in less than 30seconds

They also had it to me in a couple of days . Best of luck Kim

Service light will come on and stay on for around 2 minutes after every ignition cycle when the car has calculated that it is due for a service. It will need to be reset to clear it.
