I'm sorry your going to have to stand corrected but this was and still is the ultimate cartoon!
http://youtu.be/2Qd_IsxgAf8
It also featured the best weapon ever...
http://youtu.be/eRsmoSis-2I
and they've rebooted it for 2011 with a brand new series which aired in America last Friday...
I also used to like watching...

http://youtu.be/JLVe1NkQA78
http://youtu.be/yRF0r5u1-qk
http://youtu.be/3JjhQ1Oi_3k
and many more... They really don't make them like they used too!

When I was at school a mate of mine used to love 999 and theme tune used to stick in my head....
http://youtu.be/QA4fXdxPelE
another tv theme tune that sticks in my mind is the end credits from the earlier casualty because it was a reminder that it was time for bed when I was alot younger!...lol

i fitted Lunch Box wheels & axles onto my Hornet, was brilliant because of the wheel size it could float on water lol. I had a few bigger motors, but my main mod was replacing the nylon bearings with ball-raced ones

the twin motor Escort was a nightmare, it had too much torque & just wheelied the pin out the slot when you got to the straight lol. Some in our group experimented with electromagnets, they were so powerful they didn't have to let off the throttle for the whole lap lol
PS soaking the tyres over night in lighter fluid softens them up lovely

we banned magnets from our group because people were spacering them down or replacing them with higher-powered ones for the standard class. Have you seen the SCX Volvo 850, actually most SCX cars are more advanced than the Scalextric cars

SCX awd, a bit better than the Scalextric attempt lol

I was quite into my scalextrix cars and had a number of them, I also have one of those scx Volvo 850's and the Volvo was always more superior, the working steering meant it handled corners brilliantly.

TCR wasnt slot in the same sense as scalextric and was by ideal. I had the cheaper Aurora slot car, figure of eight, juggernaut and police car. Loved it.

Stupid media makes us all paranoid ...and I live in quite an respectable area now.

Thats the thing though, its difficult to describe.
I'll text my brother see if he remembers, but it will be "do you remeber those alien/robot type stuff that you could build with those plastic block type things?"lol
Rolling thunder was awsome, i had a few others stuff to go with it, an f14 tomcat, 2 attack boats, 2 helicopters (apache and something like a chinook) a tank, a couple of strange tracked vehicles and a base that was like a small oil platform. I had mates that had some good action force stuff as well, but nothing could touch rolling thunder!!! lol

What i remember about growing up was you could go out in the morning have lunch at a mates and then go home.
If you caused trouble local bobby would turn up give you a clip round the earhole and take you home where your parents would give you another clip for bothering the copper.
If you caused trouble at school head's office.
Happy Days
And then came the 70's
Senior school
Army
Great days
