i put up 2 wanted ads last week and he pm'd me saying he had both items so we agreed a price and i paid via paypal,since then ive had no contact from him despite numerous attemps by myself and i think a couple of mods have helped too,he hasnt been online for nearly a week
its a sad state of affairs when you have to rip people off of £25
sorry for the rant just wanted you guys to be aware of him should he come back online thats all
unfortunatly i paid him via pay pal as a gift so i dont think i can claim it back-if anyone knows otherwise please advise

I think (don't hold me to this) you can claim the money back if you file it as an 'unauthorised transaction' as opposed to a 'dispute'. You can only use dispute for goods and services, not gifts.

I've just had a quick look at his profile and post history and find it incredibly strange that somebody would continue to post on a car forum the same evening (1st July) and the next morning following his own mothers death.....sorry to DPS1973 but I do find that quite strange.

yeah me too,if he is having personnel problems thats fine all he has to do is pm me or refund me........no problem,i cant imagine what he must be feeling if he has lost his mother but as you say he was posting after the day

from my recent experience be wary of purchasing items off people that have no friends and empty profiles and unless the seller is a regular poster dont send monies as a 'gift 'through paypal

I had a similar experience with a forum member last year and a similar excuse was used. Had no joy, so pretty much given up now.
Does pi$$ you off just a bit!
Having said that, the majority are decent honest folk so it's really cr@p when you do a deal with someone who isn't and end up losing out :mad:

guess im to trust worthy,i have brought and sold many times off different car forums (club calibra,migweb etc) and never had any problems
perhaps this site needs some sort of trader feedback (like ebay) system

On the trader feedback front, its actually a work in progress after a staff discussion prior to these events.
Oviously in all instances it is advisable not matter who the seller is purchase items as "goods" rather than "gifts", as in the rare case that an incident like this does occur you have the legal protection of paypal.
I am very sorry that we could not be of any further assistance is resolving this dispute.

Sadly, it wont be happening on here, we encourage members to trade but you personally have to make the choice re whom your sending your hard earned money to. Lets hope this gets resolved quickly and amicably though :)

fair enough if its a genuine reason but from my view he has taken peoples money and not provided the goods that were paid for
this is a owners club not a con people out of their money club,i know im new here so my views might not mean much but its wrong what he has done

the length of time you've been a member will have nothing to do with any decisions made on the forum. I myself thought it was a bit much posting his phone number in public, there could well (& hoping) theirs a genuine reason for the lack of stuff turning up in which its too late & who knows who's already got his details then
people have been banned/removed from the forum before, & have faith the right thing will be done once 100% about the situation

posting phone numbers.. hmm... i dont see an issue with it, at the end of the day if you have taken money off someone then you obligated to complete your side of the transaction, irrespective of what is happening in the real world. A few mins to send a PM to the person you owe parts to doesnt take very long at all.
This is a close knit forum and club, you kick one we all tend to limp.
If the guy is a rip off merchant, then having his phone number posted up for the whole world to see may just stop him from doing it again. Like wise an address.
Also he may have taken money off other people who havent said anything so a public posting of his number makes it easier for people to hassel ( sorry request ) that he completes the deal, either by posting parts or returning money.
I have no time at all for people who take money and then dissapear into the eather, there is NO excuse short of being hospitalised and totally unable to contact the outside world.

Posting up his phone number was perhaps a bit too much on my behalf without allowing DPS1973 time to respond, I'll be the first to hold my hands up and apologise to him when he makes an appearance. Although I have to say, his phone number is readily available for all to see though through his own posts and listings....so I've not given away anything really !!

Last contact i had was on Tuesday the 4th saying he would post the item. I have pm'ed a couple of times but no contact and now you cannot pm as it says his inbox is full. Rang the number posted up yesterday before it got taken down and the guy didn't seem to know what i was on about. No reply from email given from paypal.
Im gonna raise the case with paypal today, think i have given it enough time. Is there anything else i can do ?

Ok he might have a valid reason for not sorting this out straight away and i hope thats the issue here not that hes looking to rip people of there hard earned cash.
And im sorry i dont find it strange he posted the day after his mother died,some people deal with death in a family different,my father pasted away a month ago and the same night i was on forums just to keep my mind busy and not to think about what had just happend.

If members do wish to buy items from other members they should not be placed in a situation where they have to worry about items not turning up and loss of moneys paid. I have been delayed posting items out but try to keep buyers informed of my reasons hopefully which they find acceptable. Maybe a recommendation scheme of some sort could be used or maybe other members would be willing to allow members to mention those they have sold items to for validation should a potential buyer be worried at all.

its a shame theres people like this out there,and on this forum,as this forum has proved its quality time and time again with the members on here going the extra mile for each other,
iv dealt with a few members on here and can honestly say my experience has been a good one,and i feel i can trust most of you lol,
sadly the forum is like an open market,sometimes the rif raf come through the door,unfortunatly you dont know this until its too late,
my point is that its only the odd bad egg as everyone on here has shown so much care and compassion and general help to other members who most of us havnt even met................that shows a good bunch of boys and girls....
we should all be proud of ourselves :)

i have only been on here a week and half and have had loads of good advice and offers from members willing to help out with my car shame that 1 fooking mug lets it down for everyone
just hope 1 of you lovely people offers to help me fit my blanking plate to my turbo as my big ogre hands aint getting no way near it :)

Doesnt stop a person coming on for the first time and ripping a few off.
I think there should be a feedback section that buyers can leave coments on the sellers,that way if you dont have a feed back thread then people might think twice about buying or ask other about a certain person.

i used to have a Race-X universal pod that fit my 850 quite well, if you get a spare pillar i'd even have a go at fitting/moulding it for you if you want
or you could fit it under the stereo if you've got an aftermarket single DIN

Btw, if you do want a pillar mount for a boost gauge, i have one you can have for nowt because i'll never use it.
I'll also have a boost gauge and mbc going soon, probably about £20, just depends on how much of a hurry you are to get them.

No problem, i just use the gauge to check what boost i'm running when i adjust the mbc (don't have a gauge fitted in the car, just plug it in when needed) and as i'm supposed to be replacing it with an ebc i'll have no need for them.

well to be honest im free every sunday up until and including the 7th august then after that i will be on holiday,going around the east coast (wells,cromer,hunstanton etc) so want these little jobs sorted by then really
got a few jobs to do on it
renew front discs and pads
replace the aux belt,pulley and tensioner
fit boost gauge
fit mbc
maybe fit a poly top mount if funds allow
maybe fit a cone filter if funds allow
still undecided about the cd player as i read on another volvo forum that if taking out the double din unit i must replace it with a unit that does twin fade or something will try and find a link to what i read
the unit i would put in is a pioneer deh-p6900ib
obviously i want to get stuck in myself with these jobs just need some help thats all

I am half an hour from Hunstanton and Cromer... if not presented with an opportunity before then to get all those jobs done leave the car with me and catch the train into Cromer. When you return they will be done ;)
