Cadwell is tight and suites cars that handle well. It is very rewarding to drive though and does feel more like a fast road than a track which is nice.

Best in-car I could find was from a 2010 Time Attack meeting which gives a very good view from the drivers seat around CP, great track normally favoured by bike lunatics rather than heavy stuff :D but some resonable run off for those that may need it in the fast bits.... :wink:

It should be ok Dave, the trick to getting the C70 round quick IMO, would be a bit slower than you think you can go and give yourself plenty of run off on exit so you can get the power on nice and early.
The white stuff was chalk, a Peugeot 205 with a 306 GTI engine on throttle bodies let go and they had to mop up the oil then put that stuff down.

Spot on with the method there, do all the hard work on the steering on the way in and get the car as straight as possible around the apex so you can get the power down - makes you quicker right the way down the next straight.

We don't require any of the usual road stuff, neither of my track cars are taxed or MOTed and normal road insurance is not relevant on trackdays. This isn't to say that we want sheds turning up to self-destuct on our trackdays but a car that is mechanically sound and checked for levels, tyres and brakes etc is welcome irrespective of it's paperwork.
In short, you'll be fine if you fit in with the above and I'll PM you the booking info :cool:

As always - Ferodo DS2500s - standard 302mm disks. Worked very well at Brunters.

Car was fully prepared for the track this afternoon.........I removed the winter tyres !! Mas' old S60 D5 Auto should be about right for Cadwell.

I got back about an hour ago... What an amazing day.weather was fantastic. It all started yesterday. I had a nightmare day at work and was not able to get to HLM till gone six. I had planned to get there in the morning but major incidents in Shell's IT kept me busy!!! The lads set to like whirling dirvishes, replacing all four pads, doing a fluid service and swapping the two front winter tyres off in under forty minutes!!!! I was mighty impressed! We set off to pick up mr. Churchill in Leicester. A brief stop over to eat courtesy of Sam (Chris's miss us) and we set off towards Louth.

We stayed overnight in a lovely little hotel not 15 mins from the track. Short but good nights sleep later and a full English in the morning we arrived to find the place already filled with cars of all sorts. There 3 or 4 M3's several small hatches, s2000's, Caterhams, scoobies, a skyline and a motley collection of purpose built track club vehicles, most notably what turned out to be a very quick red van. Barnsley Bill turned up shortly with his White v70. Murphy turned up around ten on his Suzuki. It was great to see old friends after such a long time.
After briefings and sighting laps, I finally got out and started to try and fathom out the track. Technically it was very challenging, which I guess after a few sessions it was very rewarding, much more so than any single track day I have done before. Airfield based circuits are very 2 dimensional in comparison. First full season and I came back wondering if I would ever get the hang of it. Chris was fantastic as a passenger and gave me a great boost in confidence and soon enough, I was mixing it up with the best of them. Hamish was running the D5 green goddess auto and he was able to hold his own.
We trialed the go pro hd video cam secreted behind the rear view mirror and also in the grill itself. I have seen the result and it looks fantastic. I hope to be able to share it with u all soon once Chris has finished editing it. As for the c70 she ran like a dream, apart from the niggles with my gearbox, which did drop out of second too many times for my liking. This will be resolved soon.

The Quaiffe ATB really helped me out in the corners. Power was awesome
to the annoyance of one golden M3 and the skyline. I have to say that on the whole everyone on track was very courteous and well spirited. I really enjoyed the free tuition supplier as part of the package. I made some seriously quick laps with their help. I have come away tired but with a mile wide smile. Photos will be forth coming soon too. Only issue is I am unable to get in the house as I forgot my house keys and the wife has gone out for the evening. Wobbly is as wobbly does.
A final thanks must go to Hamish and Chris for being top lads to hang out with. Oh ton Park in the Autumn beckons, and if anyone fancies it I will be having a crack at it for sure!

It was great meeting up with you lads and the weather was a plus :).
at the end of the day one M3 had its wheels offside tucked under and one scooby with a knackered gearbox plus many more that were bent.
I went out with an instructor the same time as Dave and he told me were I was going wrong which helped me out as the day went on.
I fitted some carbo tech xp10 front pad beofre the track day and they were brilliant, miles better than the standard s60R pads all though my tyres look a bit of a hammering lol.

I had a brand new set of Falkens on the front & considering the battering they got - they held up remarkably well.
As for the Apex ;) - it's that kind of unique line that made me so fast.

It was a really good day. I am working on the videos now but will take a while. I'm also timing the laps via the video TCR and it's a very impressive 02:00 as the fastest lap with the norm being 02:04.
By the way Dave, the postcards arrived from the Apexes from your first few laps, they said they miss you, but not as much as you missed them. :duck:
They sent another one from later laps saying stop stamping on them with falcons :B_thumb:

Very drole monsieur. It took me a while to find the apexes. Sometimes I avoided them alltogether. However with your guidance I think by the end I was doing all right. Murphy was the last passenger - so I trust his next post will be a bit more balanced :P

That photo of the tyre is incredible ;-)
The S60R standard pads are a bit soft feeling, especially when looking at the standard discs and callipers. I can vouch for the stopping power of adding Carbotech pads as well :-)

This was my video with my gopro camera fixed to my helemt on my first few laps in the morning before I was told I couldnt use it :(
And after adjusting the dampers on my coilovers late in the afternoon I managed to find the best settings, as I was locking my rear offside wheel up in places, and now I have noted them down for future trackdays :).

The tog who was there was using half decent gear, but was very static and just got close ups. I will say that is the given approach when doing this kind of work. He was also decent enough to look after my camera rather than burdening Dave with an extra 14KG! We also did grab the shots from him as well. I have gone for more concept of speed because I'm used to shooting for the BTCC and you can't "park" a car, you have to show that it's moving!

I stuck it in the front grill just off centre. No housing as it would have shown up too much and they would have asked for it to be removed.

It was very stealth - cable tie then carefully disguised in harry black maskers. I notice that Bill never yielded for me!! What was that all about??

It will be good to see how it goes off the line Pete :).
its an MTE progressive map unlike the wheel spinning crap bsr map that I had on the standard engine.
After checking my car the day after cadwell park I found a leak in a vac pipe and a wheel bearing rumble, so I'm going to change the bearing this coming week.

It was down on power I'm guessing 200hp. It did surprise me considering the pace. That ka was a 130hp n/a 1.8 zetec engine I believe..
