does anyone know where i can get an adaptor to go in place of the standard 850 stereo so i can fit a standard DIN sized cd player?
it looks like the standard fit one takes up 2 din apertures - ideally i'd like to have a gap for the unused one so i can fit a CB radio there.
anyone know of anywhere i could get such an adaptor?
thanks
Jim

a standard DIN unit will fit straight in when you remove the standard unit, all thats needed then is either a blanking plate or a storage pocket to fill the extra DIN slot (any car audio specialist of Halfords should have them in stock)
i brought a blanking plate & cut out holes to fit extra gauges

thanks pedro, that looks good - is there just a hole left when the standard unit is removed or are there any side bracers etc?

when you remove the standard radio the actual hole is double DIN but it has a a small support each side so a single DIN will fit in & stay in place without any other brackets

have you tried getting the code from a main stealer, just from the car reg plate they managed to tell me the code for my old radio

You should have no problem fitting a cb in there as i have two head units in mine.

is there much extra depth in this area? the cb i want to fit is deeper than a standard stereo but narrower and not as tall so its only depth that could be a problem

no i'm afraid it was quite tight depth wise even for my radio

Mine was a tight fit as well not much room at the back at all.Are there no cb units available in a less deep size?

May be something to try, if you find an ealier model 850 with the single din head unit, they have an odment tray that fills up the other din size for the radio apperture, they secure in and make the din sized hole slightly smaller.
If you're creative enough, you could fit the tray in the free din space, then modify it by cutting the back out and somehow fixing the cb into that.
maybe just a thought as my mate done that in his 306.

i didnt know the earlier ones had a single aperture and a compartment - that sounds a good solution for now.
there are going to be a couple of cb rigs on the market later in the year that are standard sized but not at the moment.
wonder if there are any 850's in my localish scrappy, gonna take a trip to find out i think!

well my dads was a '94 and it had the single din head unit, so possibly upto '94 to look out for

as i said earlier, you can get either a blanking plate or pocket from most car audio shops or halfords
& my 94 had a double din stereo

I'm sure Volvo also do a single DIN CD holder to plug gaps as well.

Jim,, ive got one (the cd holder one) if you want it for nothing...
yes it fits straight in and clips into place, then the stereo fits above it. easy peasy to fit.
